Ken Jeong tears up during star-studded Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony
As I delve into this captivating narrative, I find myself utterly enthralled by the dynamic career trajectory of Ken Jeong. His journey from the Playboy Mansion to the stage of The Masked Singer is nothing short of extraordinary. It’s like watching a phoenix rise from the ashes, only with more laughter and less feathers.
At the Hollywood Walk of Fame induction ceremony in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Ken Jeong received a heartwarming show of support from his team on The Masked Singer.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce bestowed the 55-year-old former doctor-turned-comedian with their 2,794th star, which is situated at Hollywood & Vine, near the Pineapple Express dispensary.
Alongside his fellow actors from the television series Community that ran on NBC and Yahoo! Screen from 2009 to 2015, Ken (known as Kendrick Kang-Joh Jeong at birth) was also there.
During his acceptance speech, Jeong expressed that the award was for an Asian-American individual who relocates to Hollywood, fearing whether their dreams will materialize or if they are capable of achieving success.
Head over to 1708 Vine Street. You’ll find my star, which is positioned alongside – upon my request – those of Lucy Liu and Anna May Wong.
As a die-hard admirer, I can’t help but share my excitement over the recent event where the Detroit-born progeny of Korean immigrants, who’s made us all proud, struck some playful poses next to his freshly-revealed star! It seems this star comes with a $250 application fee and a whopping $75K sponsorship fee, can you imagine? What an honor it must be for him!
At some point, while pretending to chat on a phone, Robin Thicke, one of Ken’s fellow panelists on The Masked Singer, jokingly mimicked stepping on Ken’s head with his patent leather Oxford shoe.
47-year-old Grammy contender later sang a falsetto rendition of Journey’s 1981 classic “Don’t Stop Believin'” upon Jeong’s special request, even lending a hand with backup vocals during the performance.
In the midst of a rock anthem’s electrifying guitar solo, I encouraged the host of “I Can See Your Voice” to mimic playing on an imaginary guitar, and he happily complied with great enthusiasm.
‘I love you Ken!’ Thicke gushed.
Ken graciously acknowledged Joel McHale, his ex-cast member from The Community, in public, stating that he was “the greatest impromptu addition to the Walk of Fame ever.” He playfully added, “I can’t help but wonder, couldn’t you have put on a tie today?
Blue Eye Samurai star Randall Park spoked about how ‘caring’ Jeong is in real life.
As a former doctor at Kaiser Permanente for seven long years, I never imagined myself stepping into the limelight as an actor. Yet here I stand today, sharing my story with all of you. This isn’t about me; it’s about the fans who have supported me throughout my journey. Their unwavering enthusiasm and encouragement have fueled my passion to pursue acting, proving that dreams can indeed come true if one dares to dream big.
I had a dream of becoming a professional actor. My journey began at Duke University where I attended my first acting class, a big shout out to the Blue Devils! However, I was unsure if this dream could come true. Even when I fully dedicated myself to acting, I kept my driver’s license as a backup plan, which I still hold onto today.
Because of you, I can always stay here, and that’s all thanks to my supporters. I may not be the wittiest or the most skilled individual, nor am I the tallest as Joel points out, but I am truly thankful and deeply appreciative towards my fans.
Ken affectionately kissed his spouse, Dr. Tran Ho, a 20-year partner, while smiling alongside their proud 17-year-old twins, Alexa and Zooey, who have achieved high honors and are admired by many.
She strongly encouraged me to leave my daily job and focus on acting completely,” Jeong excitedly shared about the 15-year breast cancer survivor.
‘I honestly don’t know what I would do without you I just don’t know. I did not want to cry. I did not want to cry. Oh, I know what I would do without you I would implode that’s what I would do. Thank you for not letting me implode. I love you 3,000.’
In a heartwarming gesture, the winner of the Independent Spirit Award dedicated their win to their 94-year-old father DK, mother Young, and sister, who made a special journey from North Carolina to celebrate the occasion with them.
In the audience, there sat Jenny McCarthy, along with her 22-year-old son Evan Joseph Asher, as well as the host and producer of The Masked Singer, Nick Cannon.
A 51-year-old ex-Playboy Bunny was seen affectionately with Kate Flannery, who used to star on the TV show ‘Community’ alongside Ken.
The talented twosome were then joined by Jeong’s former Community castmate Yvette Nicole Brown.
Viewers will have an opportunity to witness the performance of the SAG Award nominee singing “I’m Just Ken” in the Barbie-themed edition of the popular celebrity singing show, The Masked Singer, which will be aired on Fox this coming Wednesday evening.
As a lifestyle connoisseur, I’m thrilled to share that starting December 3rd, you’ll see Ken in an incredibly intense performance on Fox’s crime drama, Accused. This time around, he’ll be portraying a jewelry store owner with a mysterious past, a role that pushes the boundaries of his acting abilities. Don’t miss it!
Additionally, Jeong is actively working on creating a syndicated talk show that he will co-produce alongside Debmar-Mercury, which is owned by Lionsgate.
