Ken Barlow’s Shocking Health Scare on Coronation Street

In upcoming scenes, Ken Barlow from Coronation Street is depicted struggling and eventually falling down in pain, hinting at a dramatic turn of events in the coming week’s episodes of the popular soap opera.

Supporters of the cherished ITV soap opera are aware that the character Ken, portrayed by William Roache, was allegedly mistreated by his caregiver, Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney). However, it has yet to be determined if Cassie’s actions caused Ken’s condition or not.

Initially, the images show Ken struggling desperately to get to his phone while clearly in distress, causing concern among fans who are worried about the fate of this well-known character.

In the plot, Cassie learns via text that her upcoming iPad has been shipped, yet she chooses not to tell Steve about it.

When Fiz is about to go into town for a shopping spree, Cassie feigns having allergies and requests her companion to buy some antihistamines instead.

As Cassie persists in exploiting Ken, she goes ahead and purchases two juicers using his name. This action might signal the start of the unraveling of her plan.

Following dismissing Fiz, Cassie feels elated as Steve extends an invitation for lunch at the Bistro; however, this brief joy is tempered when Ken appears to have caught on to her, as evidenced by his open eyes.

Ken reaches to make a call on his phone but collapses in agony.

It turns out that Cassie has been secretly tampering with Ken’s tea, and Bertie discovered this fact. However, Cassie tried to keep Bertie from revealing the truth by offering him a bribe. Despite the attempt at silence, Bertie eventually shared the information with Daisy.

Daisy told Daniel, who shrugged off the information as a misunderstanding.

The news emerges as rumors swirl about the struggling state of the ITV soap, stemming from financial difficulties, a supposed cash crunch, and unrest among the cast due to suboptimal work environments and inadequate compensation.

For nearly three months now, Charlotte Jordan, Sue Cleaver, Sue Devaney, Colson Smith, Luca Toola, and Shelley King have each declared their intention to depart from the program.

Other actors have reportedly vented their fury on a WhatsApp group over fears they could be next.

Based on The Sun’s report, approximately 2.5 million viewers tuned in for Thursday’s episode between 9pm and 10pm – a figure that represents only about 10% of the 27 million people who watched Hilda Ogden bid farewell back in 1987 during her peak popularity.

Instead of its regular Friday airtime, the episode was shifted to make room for the live broadcast of the FA Cup match featuring Aston Villa versus West Ham on the network.

Consequently, Coronation Street found itself competing with BBC’s reality series The Traitors, which attracted around five million viewers.

The show struggled with lower viewership, placing second to Emmerdale at approximately 3.5 million viewers, whereas BBC’s EastEnders attracted about 2.8 million spectators.

Additionally, this implies that The Street no longer ranks among the ten most viewed programs of the day, a situation last observed on Christmas Day, when Helen Worth, who played Gail Platt for 50 years, bid farewell to the series.

According to a source, The Sun was informed that Coronation Street, once considered ITV’s most valuable asset, now seems to have a sense of disappointment among its cast members.

A representative from the show responded: “On Thursdays at 9 PM, we don’t typically air. This schedule doesn’t cater to those watching on ITVX.

On Monday, the knife-crime episode I followed reached a peak viewership of 3.9 million, and considering that number, it seems likely to align with the average viewership of 4.4 million for the year 2024, making it the most-watched soap opera on television.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but share my concerns about the rumors circulating among some of our beloved mid-level actors and rising stars. There’s talk that their roles might be cut back as a cost-saving measure.

It is rumored that some of the newer cast members worry their roles might be eliminated to ensure long-time actors such as Bill Roache and Jack P. Shepherd remain part of the production.

According to a source, there’s an active WhatsApp chat filled with discussions about speculations regarding future cuts or changes.

The situation at the soap opera is quite challenging, and these hardships are trickling down. There seems to be an atmosphere that more cast members may be let go as a cost-cutting measure, in order to retain popular actors such as Bill Roache and Jack P. Shepherd.

The insider added that cast members have also complained about the long working hours.

They noted that filming can be challenging, with someone complaining they were treated like overworked animals. The era of hefty salaries has passed.
