Kelsey Grammer recently announced the birth of his eighth child, and fourth with his wife, Kayte Walsh.

The 70-year-old actor revealed he and his wife, Kayte, are expecting another child during an interview on the Pod Meets World podcast. This came just four months after the Daily Mail reported they were going to have a baby again.

Kelsey, who has been married four times, has spoken about becoming a father again with his wife, Kayte. He feels like he’s trying to cherish these years with his younger children, especially since he feels he wasn’t as present for his older children from previous relationships.

Kelsey Grammer, known for his role in Frasier, has shared that he could be intimidating as a father. He explained this was partly because he didn’t grow up with a stable example of fatherhood, as his parents divorced when he was very young.

Kelsey and Kayte, married since 2011, have four children: thirteen-year-old Faith, eleven-year-old Kelsey Gabriel, eight-year-old Auden James, and their newest addition, baby Christopher.

He had his first child, a daughter named Spencer, in 1983. Spencer is now 42 years old. This happened during his marriage to Doreen Alderman, which lasted two years and ended in 1990.

I learned that Kurt had a daughter, Greer, now 33, with Barrie Buckner, a retired hair and makeup artist. They apparently had a relationship back in the early nineties – between 1991 and 1992, if reports are to be believed.

During his 13-year marriage to Camille Meyer, which ended in 2011, Kelsey had two more children: a daughter, Mason, who is now 24, and a son, Jude, who is 21.

Kelsey recently told People magazine that having a family with Kayte has made him want to reconnect with and spend more time with his children from previous relationships, feeling he hadn’t given them enough attention before.

The couple moved to the UK in 2023 so the actor could be nearer to Kayte’s family, who live in Bristol.

You know, as someone who looks at family dynamics a lot, I’ve realized we all have moments where we wish we’d been more present. I definitely went through a phase where I wasn’t giving my oldest children the attention they deserved, and I’m working on reconnecting with them now. The good thing about being a parent is it’s never too late to step up and be there – that connection is always worth nurturing.

He admits he should have been more direct and less lenient with the older people involved.

I’m patient with kids, but I also make sure they understand how to behave in social situations. I teach them to be discreet, honest, and straightforward – those qualities will really help them succeed in life.

I’m making sure they understand the importance of completing their schoolwork and being ready to learn. I emphasize that simply showing up and participating is their primary responsibility.

In 2019, Kelsey discussed his relationships with his children, sharing that he had experienced some distance with his oldest daughter, Spencer, after his marriage to his second wife.

In an interview with Graham Bensinger, he described himself as a good and fair father, though sometimes intimidating. He believes it’s important for a parent to be able to firmly command a child’s attention.

If your child runs into the street, you hope you’ve taught them to recognize and obey an internal voice telling them to stop.

Sometimes, actions have negative consequences, so it’s important to have clear rules and expectations at home. While it’s good to explain things to children, there are times when you simply need to firmly tell them that something is wrong and ask them to trust your judgment. That approach usually works well.

Kelsey shared that his only example of fatherhood came from his grandfather. He explained he hadn’t been close to his father, Allen, since his parents divorced when he was very young.

In his autobiography, the actor revealed that when he was 12 years old, his father was killed by a taxi driver amidst racial unrest in St. Thomas. Seven years later, he experienced another tragedy when his sister, Karen, was raped and murdered just weeks before turning 19.

I didn’t have a strong role model for fatherhood, though Gordon showed me some aspects of it. Because of that, I always tried to be honest and treat everyone with kindness.

It’s important to be respectful of everyone and to practice good manners – being a gentleman or a young lady are still valuable qualities today.

Looking back on his relationship with his daughter, Spencer, he feels he was a good father. As his first child, he admits he was learning as he went, but he was consistently present in her life when she was young.

‘When I had my second wife, we spent a little more time apart, and I’m not sure that was helpful.

If you’re willing to reconnect, there’s still time to rebuild the loving bond you once shared with your daughter. That’s really what matters now, after going through some difficult periods.

Kelsey and his third wife, Camille, have had a difficult relationship, and they share two children together.

I was really saddened to hear Camille say that, even after 13 years of marriage, her kids would ask why she and her husband weren’t speaking to each other. It just highlights how much of an impact their issues had on the children, even after everything fell apart.

In a 2016 interview with Entertainment Tonight, she described him as the love of her life and expressed her hope that they could remain friends even after their relationship ended.

I’ve come to terms with the possibility that things might stay as they are, and I’m okay with that now.

She said she wasn’t sure why Kelsey was avoiding her, but suggested it might be due to guilt on his end. She added that she’s not a therapist and could only speculate, and the best person to ask would be Kelsey himself.

My daughter asked him a few times why he wouldn’t talk to Mom. He told her it would just upset him.

She added it has ‘affected the kids for a very long time.’

Camille said her daughter, Mason, went to therapy to help her feel stronger and more confident after the separation.

Kelsey and his wife Kayte had their first child when Kelsey was 57. As an older father, the actor has often expressed how thankful he is for a second chance at fatherhood.

He shared with The Guardian in 2018 that becoming a father later in life felt like a second chance, which he considered a wonderful gift.

Kayte and Kelsey Grammer first connected in 2009 when she was a flight attendant and he was a passenger on a flight to London.

The actor started his relationship with her while he was still legally married to Camille, a star from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

He shared with Jimmy Kimmel in 2012 that he and his partner first met on a flight to England.

‘It was very romantic, she was working on the plane.

A few days later, we went for coffee and ended up having a wonderful, snowy evening in London around Christmas. That was two years ago.

The couple got engaged in December 2010 and married two months later, on February 25, 2011, in a beautiful ceremony at The Plaza Hotel in New York City.
