Kelsea Ballerini Rejects Divorce Poster Child Label After Split from Morgan Evans

Kelsea Ballerini has talked divorce in her new interview.

The 31-year-old hitmaker opened up to Elle about ending her marriage to Morgan Evans in 2022.

The pinup stated, “I have no desire to represent the face of divorce. Now that it’s been three years, it’s no longer a significant part of my daily life.

Whenever these women approach me, my initial response isn’t usually “Oh my God, congratulations!” Instead, I usually ask, “Are you alright?” because I believe it’s crucial to work towards removing the stigma around this topic. Moreover, I don’t think it should be celebrated or glamorized either.

During the tour, Ballerini halted a performance in Hollywood, Florida when the crowd was shouting inappropriate comments about her former partner.

In the middle of her tour, Ballerini paused a gig in Hollywood, Florida because the spectators were shouting lewd comments regarding her former partner.

She assured the audience, “It’s been three years since then, things are all good now.” She continued, “Let me perform the song for you now, it’s no longer about me, I hope you understand.

She also said she is much happier these days.

As a grateful admirer, I’ve recently experienced a transformation in my personal life that feels almost unbelievable compared to where I was just a few years back. Now, I find myself cherishing the new love I’ve found with Chase Stokes from Outer Banks, and I can’t help but express my gratitude for this remarkable change.

The emotions stemming from her divorce with Evans inspired her to create her six-track EP titled “Rolling Up the Welcome Mat.

Initially, I felt petrified, saying to myself, “Oh dear, I’m so scared.” After a night’s rest, upon waking up, I realized, “Ah, everything is alright. People seem to be discovering and relating to this.

‘But it was definitely a scary feeling,’ she said of the risk.

Many of her fans were going through something similar and the songs resonated with them.

At some of her concerts, people might display signs saying they’ve recently divorced, but Ballerini is careful in how she handles this kind of shared information.

For her fifth album titled “Patterns”, Ballerini opted to collaborate with a whole group of women for composing the music.

To be frank, I found myself quite chilled following the Welcome Mat project, as its purpose wasn’t about achieving commercial success in any form.

She shared that the six-song album we created together, almost secretively with Alysa Vanderheym, was so low-key that it didn’t fulfill any obligations for her recording contract. Yet, it resonated surprisingly well.

As I embarked on crafting my much-anticipated full-length project, I once more sought the creative expertise of Vanderheym. This time, I also welcomed the talents of Hillary Lindsey, Karen Fairchild, and Jessie Jo Dillon to join me in this musical journey.

‘I didn’t know where to start, because I felt this pressure to follow it up and do it well.

To understand the key elements behind its success, I found myself pondering, “What steps can I take to apply these lessons to my current situation?

‘I knew that if I was going to start writing, I needed to do it with people I felt safe with.

I contacted my friends, who happen to be highly sought-after songwriters in the music industry, yet they’re simply my pals.

How about rephrasing it as follows: “I suggested, ‘Let’s escape for a couple of days to a snug and charming place. I’ll bring plenty of wine, and let’s see if there are any surprises. Even if there aren’t, it will still be two days celebrating femininity.’ If that’s the most unfavorable outcome, we’re in a good spot.

Due to those intimate experiences, The Voice coach and her team ultimately composed the songs “Sorry Mom,” “Two Things,” and “Baggage.” When I heard this, I exclaimed, “There it is!” I experienced a profound sense of relief and liberation, unlike anything I had felt before. I keep emphasizing that it wasn’t just a collaborative writing process; it was like living a year together in the truest sense.

The launch of Patterns was instrumental in the singer/songwriter realizing one of her lifetime aspirations. She’s always harbored the dream of becoming a headliner in arenas, an ambition that isn’t common among country music artists. With this mindset of “If not now, then when?”, she and her team collectively felt it was the right time to pursue this goal.

To do so, Ballerini said she had to shift her mindset.

To escape the constant internal struggle as a compulsive people-pleaser, I found it necessary to step out of my thoughts because even minor disagreements or anger from others leave me feeling incapacitated. Consequently, I had remained quiet on many issues for a prolonged period, focusing on finding stability first. However, eventually, I realized that I desired those who appreciate my music to understand my beliefs and hopefully share them, so I decided to express myself more openly.

The bold artist is also advocating for expanding the boundaries of Country Music and making it more inclusive for everyone. In Philadelphia, a queen was among the audience, and the artist expressed profound gratitude that this individual felt secure enough to attend the performance while wearing their wig, as they articulated thoughtfully.

Beyoncé’s album “Cowboy Carter” took home the Grammy for Album of the Year, yet it was overlooked by the Academy of Country Music Awards. Similar to her, artists like Lana del Rey and Zayn Malik have ventured into the country music scene as well.

Ballerini questions, “Why should country artists limit themselves if they’re open to collaborating with artists from the top 40 or R&B genres? Why not extend that opportunity to others as well?

She stated that those resisting should take a moment to reflect, as music belongs to everyone. Particularly country music, its essence lies in telling the stories of the people.

Regarding who she’d love to collaborate with, the singer of Love is a Cowboy has someone specific in mind. She confessed that she would be thrilled beyond belief if given the opportunity to work with SZA.
