Kelly Rutherford & Son Hermes Reunite After $2M Custody Battle: First Photo in 10 Years!

In my expertise as a lifestyle enthusiast, I had an exciting encounter in Paris on Monday, where I ran into the lovely Kelly Rutherford and her 17-year-old son, Hermes Gustaf Daniel Giersch. It was truly a rare occasion to spot them together!

It is the first time she has posed with the boy in public in over 10 years.

The two were side by side at two tony Parisian fashion events as they smiled for the cameras.

They went to both the Chanel fashion show and the Rahul Mishra event, which were held during Paris Fashion Week 2025 in France.

Interestingly, Hermes is already taller than his Hollywood actress mother.

As an ardent admirer putting words to my fascination, I’d say: I donned a sleek dark suit paired with a crisp light shirt, while my hair was perfectly slicked back. Meanwhile, my mother, the epitome of elegance, showcased a Chanel black dress and strutted down the runway in a floral-print number boasting a low-cut neckline, accompanied by black heels and a sophisticated handbag, all at Rahul’s fashion event.

The blonde beauty also has a 15-year-old daughter named Helena.

Kelly’s former husband, German entrepreneur Daniel Giersch (age 50), is the father of their two children. They were involved in a highly contentious and widely publicized international child custody battle that ultimately cost Kelly more than 2 million dollars.

Kelly, 56, has been living in Monaco to be closer to her kids.

The TV star had a lengthy custody battle with her ex Daniel.

She wed Giersch in 2006 and they split in 2009.

In Monaco, a judge decided that Rutherford would share custody of their young children. At the time, Hermès was already two, while Rutherford was expecting Helena.

When the judge declared that the children must reside with Giersch permanently in Monaco due to the denial of his work visa, my heart sank as a devoted fan, for I knew it would be challenging to maintain our connection across such great distances.

That kept him from returning to the United States.

The judge informed Rutherford that she’d need to relocate to Monaco or regularly travel there to spend time with her two kids.

It’s alleged that the actress incurred almost 2 million dollars in legal expenses. Due to this financial burden, she had no other choice but to file for bankruptcy, allowing her to continue battling for full custody of her children in court.

It was a six-year legal battle.

During a six-week stay, she faced allegations of kidnapping when she opted not to return her children to Monaco.

Kelly last hit a red carpet with her kids in 2015, which was 10 years ago.

In October she told Travel + Leisure she likes how quiet Monaco is.

Rutherford commented, ‘This spot is surprisingly tranquil. Contrary to popular belief, it’s not what most people expect; for me, it’s a serene haven where one can truly find silence.’

She remarked, “During winter, it’s incredibly tranquil, secluded, and serene. It’s almost as if you’re comparing the bustling Hamptons of summer to the peaceful Hamptons of winter.

The Melrose Place star has a slower lifestyle there.

‘I just walk the dogs, hang out with the kids, and run errands,’ she said.

If there’s an art exhibition or similar events, I might drop by to check them out. Generally speaking, however, I prefer to use my spare time quietly.

And she loves the history of Monaco.

She expressed that Grace Kelly truly brought a captivating ambiance here, mentioning how she welcomed many Tinseltown personalities to Monaco initially, giving it an exquisite and elegant charm.

Currently, it maintains an old-world charm, blending tradition with elegance, yet it’s transitioning into a vibrant cultural hub. It seems to be infused with a fresh, invigorating spirit.
