Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, a married couple known for their on-screen presence, publicly supported Jimmy Kimmel on their ABC morning show Wednesday. They also emphasized how important the First Amendment is in the United States.

The Emmy-winning hosts, both 54 years old, confessed they usually avoid discussing politics, particularly while filming at the Disney studio.

Mark admitted that both he and the viewers at home were looking for a distraction from everything that was going on.

I believe it’s vital that we all have freedom of speech. You never know when saying something unpopular could have consequences. As Americans, most of us agree that the First Amendment, protecting that right, is incredibly important.

Kelly acknowledged that their show was popular for being easygoing, fun, and avoiding sensitive topics.

‘We are non-controversial. We are like melted ice cream,’ Ripa described.
