As someone who’s followed the Osbourne family for years, it really touched me to hear Kelly Osbourne talk about watching her mum, Sharon, care for Ozzy during his final days. It’s incredibly moving, and the documentary, filmed over the last three years of his life, promises to be a very personal and raw look at their family dynamic and the challenges they faced. It’s heartbreaking to think about, but also a testament to their unwavering love and dedication to each other.
As many of you know, we lost a true icon recently. I was so saddened to hear that Black Sabbath’s legendary singer, Tony Martin, passed away from heart failure at his home in Buckinghamshire on July 22nd. It’s especially poignant considering he’d just finished a farewell concert with the band at Birmingham’s Villa Park just two weeks before. It really highlights how quickly things can change, and reminds us to cherish every moment. You can find more details here.
A new BBC One documentary, Sharon & Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home, will follow the story of Ozzy Osbourne – known as the “Prince of Darkness” – as he returns to the UK. He’s been living in the United States with his family for over thirty years, and this film charts their move back home.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m telling you, this segment is really going to pull at your heartstrings. It’ll feature Kelly sharing some incredibly personal details about her mum, Sharon, and the pain she went through during Ozzy’s final years. She’ll be talking about how Sharon bravely nursed him through some really difficult and painful operations, and just how hard she tried to help him. It’s a very moving story, and I think a lot of people will relate to the challenges they faced.
In a particular moment, Kelly shared: ‘I believe watching my mother go through this is the saddest aspect of everything that’s happening.‘
I believe it’s incredibly difficult to watch someone you love deeply, like the most important person in your life, decline in health.

During an interview, while Ozzy was in pain, Sharon expressed her distress, saying: ‘It’s tough for everyone, and you feel like you have to pretend everything is okay, put on a happy face. But it’s just not true.’
The singer was shown in Los Angeles less than three months before he is due to perform.
Speaking to the camera, he admitted: ‘It would take a miracle for me to recover at this point. I’m really not sure what will happen, as my back is in very bad condition and I’m experiencing a lot of pain.’
Sharon explained that each update on Ozzy’s health has brought increasingly difficult news. As of April, Ozzy was battling a new health problem – a cracked vertebrae that hadn’t healed properly.
They advised him to go inside and they would take care of it. Ozzy felt okay for a couple of weeks afterwards, but then he was in severe pain once more.
‘He went back into hospital and he came out with pneumonia.
He was hospitalized on three separate occasions – I’ve honestly lost count – and it was during one of those stays that doctors found he had developed sepsis.
Ozzy passed away from a heart attack, and a recently released death certificate confirmed he also had long-term Parkinson’s disease and coronary artery disease. The certificate was published in August.

According to a death certificate filed in London and reviewed by The New York Times, the singer had been battling both coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease.
According to the New York Times, the document was filed by Ozzy Osbourne’s daughter, Aimée Osbourne. The death certificate indicates Osbourne passed away due to “(a) Cardiac arrest outside of a hospital, (b) a heart attack, (c) heart disease and Parkinson’s disease with issues affecting bodily functions,” as stated in the certificate.
Ozzy, who also became known as a reality TV personality, revealed in 2020 that he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease following a fall.
When sharing the news of his passing, his family requested privacy and stated that he was surrounded by loved ones at the time of his death.
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Ozzy Osbourne, who died this morning,” a statement released soon after his death said.
He was with his family and felt a lot of love around him. We kindly request that everyone respects our family’s privacy right now.
As a lifelong fan, I truly believe Black Sabbath’s 1969 self-titled debut LP was the birth of heavy metal – it really was like the Big Bang! It arrived right in the middle of the Vietnam War, and honestly, it totally disrupted the whole hippie vibe that was going on. Instead of peace and love, it brought this incredible sense of menace and foreboding – it was a total game changer. Black Sabbath didn’t just play music; they created an atmosphere.
The record’s cover featured a chilling figure set against a barren backdrop. The music itself was powerful, complex, and full of raw energy, representing a significant change in the sound of rock ´n´ roll.
The band’s second album, Paranoid, featured iconic metal songs like War Pigs, Iron Man, and Fairies Wear Boots.
Although “Paranoid” only peaked at No. 61 on the Billboard Hot 100, it ultimately became the band’s most recognizable and defining song. It’s considered their signature tune in many respects.
As a lifelong metalhead, I was thrilled to see that both of these albums were recognized as being among the top 10 greatest heavy metal albums of all time – that’s what the readers of Rolling Stone magazine voted! It’s amazing to see such classic work still getting the recognition it deserves, and it really confirms what I’ve always believed – these albums are truly special.
