Emberg was born in Houston, Texas.
In high school, the model with long legs was discovered by a local Houston photographer named Alan Martin, who then provided her opportunities to showcase her modeling skills.
He brought her into contact with John Casablancas, who moved her to New York City for the purpose of joining his renowned modeling agency, Elite Model Management.
Her career gained momentum significantly when she graced the covers of Vogue multiple times, along with Cosmopolitan and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition.
Her campaigns were big too as she worked for Calvin Klein and Cover Girl.
After modeling she studied interior design.
Amongst her list of clients, it was Rod with whom she started a relationship back in 1983. They welcomed their child together in 1987, but the relationship ended in 1990.
She was married to both Brad Jenkel and Gavin Brodin, and she has a son named Tyler with the former, while her relationship with the latter resulted in a son named Cole. In 2007, she tied the knot with attorney Mike Padilla.
These days she is an advocate of wellness and touts growing her own vegetables at home.
