Kelly Clarkson’s ex-husband Brandon Blackstock’s cause of death confirmed after passing aged 48

Distressing fresh information surfaces regarding the demise of Kelly Clarkson’s former spouse, Brandon Blackstock, who passed away at the age of 48.

On Thursday, August 7, Blackstock, a renowned talent manager who was once Reba McEntire’s stepson, passed away following a three-year fight against cancer.

In a statement to People magazine, Silver Bow County Coroner Dan Hollis announced that the reason for Blackstock’s demise was malignant melanoma, which is a type of skin cancer.

Brandon Blackstock, sadly, passed away peacefully on August 7th, enveloped by the love of his family, at his residence in Butte, Montana, under hospice care.

Skin cancer known as melanoma arises from the cells that give skin its color, as stated by the Mayo Clinic.

Sun exposure, particularly prolonged or frequent, is often the culprit for ultraviolet (UV) light-induced melanomas. These skin cancers tend to appear on areas of the body that receive the most sunlight, making the sun a significant contributor of UV rays.

On Thursday, a family spokesperson shared the tragic news of Brandon Blackstock’s demise through a statement, saying: ‘With profound sorrow, we announce Brandon Blackstock has left us.’

Brandon fought courageously against cancer for over three years. In the end, he passed away tranquilly, with his loved ones around him.

Appreciating your kind thoughts and prayers, we kindly request that everyone grants the family their space as they navigate through a challenging period.

The announcement of Blackstock’s passing follows closely on the heels of Clarkson disclosing that she would be delaying the rest of her Vegas residency dates in August, due to her former husband’s health issues.

After their 10-year romantic partnership concluded, Blackstock, who previously handled Clarkson’s professional affairs, bought a house worth $1.8 million in Butte, Montana, shortly following the conclusion of their divorce in 2022.

He and Clarkson shared two children — daughter River Rose, 11, and son Remington ‘Remy’ James, 9.

Apart from that, he was the proud parent of a 23-year-old daughter named Savannah and a son named Seth, who were born during his first marriage with Melissa Ashworth.

Blackstock and Clarkson began dating in 2012, before tying the knot in October 2013.

The former couple were married for nearly seven years before she filed for divorce in June 2020.

In March, Clarkson was absent from 10 show recordings due to personal matters, and celebrities like Brooke Shields and Andy Cohen stood in for her during this time.

In the year 2017, Blackstock took up the role of her manager. He successfully brokered high-value contracts that allowed his wife to participate in The Voice and launch a self-titled talk show of her own.

In 2020, they chose to part ways, followed by a series of difficult negotiations. Eventually, their divorce was officially completed in 2022.

‘The irony lies in the fact that he has significantly improved her life – brokering fantastic deals on her behalf and being instrumental in her existence. However, managing and being a husband prove to be challenging for him,’ according to an industry source who spoke to Page Six.

‘At the time, she greatly appreciated what he had done for her career,’ they added.

According to the source, the relationship between Kelly and Brandon was filled with tension and intensity, and their ongoing negotiations were just one step away from escalating into a major conflict, similar to a volatile situation waiting for a spark to ignite.

Maintaining a sense of stability for the children amidst all the chaos can be incredibly tiring and energy-depleting.
