On Saturday, Keely Hodgkinson made an impressive appearance wearing a sleek, black cropped jacket while hosting her first event, the Keely Klassic, at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham.

The 22-year-old tournament organizer and athlete displayed her well-defined abs under a flowery pullover, complementing the look with relaxed denim pants.

She felt at ease wearing high-waisted Nike Pro shorts, paired them with a sleek black sports bra, and accessorized the outfit with a stylish chunky silver necklace to complete her fitness attire.

Although she wasn’t able to compete for the chance to break the 800m world indoor record, Keely maintained a cheerful demeanor by attending the event and serving as the host instead.

The first ‘Keely Klassic’ event that she organizes is a part of the Olympic running champion’s endeavors to transform the sport by utilizing her influence.

Initially, Keely was set to compete in the 800m race aiming to break the world indoor record at 4:21 PM on Saturday with a notable group of British athletes looking on. However, she had to withdraw from the competition because of an injury.

Keely wouldn’t have participated in her first race post-winning Olympic gold in Paris (August), as she was disappointed and unable to complete it.

‘I won’t lie – when I got the news this afternoon I shed a tear,’ she said.

After putting in countless hours of effort and achieving peak physical fitness, I’m incredibly disappointed that I won’t be able to compete in the race. It’s particularly disheartening because so many people purchased tickets, eager to witness my attempt at breaking the world record.

Currently, the women’s indoor 800-meter record belongs to Jolanda Ceplak, as she broke it exactly on the same day that Keely was born (February 15, 2002).

Despite not being able to participate in racing herself, Keely’s primary goal is to draw a younger crowd into athletics. She aims to make her event at the Utilita Arena an extraordinary experience for spectators.

The Keely Klassic is set to last for an hour, featuring approximately nine races where prominent British athletes will participate, all sporting fresh gear devoid of numbers, accompanied by live tunes and notable personalities making appearances.

‘We are hoping to just bring something fun to track,’ she said of the event.

Our goal is to leave a lasting impact on us personally, while also attracting greater attention towards athletics, particularly among our peers. This is what we’re striving for.

I sincerely hope this project lasts for a considerable duration, as I have grand aspirations for it. Exciting marketing strategies are being implemented, and the results should be quite impressive.

Over time, I believe that athletics has been somewhat overshadowed by football in this nation, and it hasn’t quite reached the pinnacle of popularity like it used to. However, the individuals involved in athletics are truly exceptional.

‘We have seen with the Olympics that when it is put out there, it is really fun.

Let’s strive to offer such experiences more frequently. Our aim is to transform this event into a one-of-a-kind occasion, blending the thrill of top-tier sports competition with the dynamism and enthusiasm of live performances.
