Keeley Hawes’ beloved and “charming” period drama with perfect season is leaving Netflix

The period drama The Durrells, starring Keeley Hawes and following a British family’s move to Corfu, will soon be removed from Netflix after all four seasons and 26 episodes have finished streaming. But don’t worry – you’ll still be able to watch it elsewhere.

The streaming service has indicated the show will be removed soon. According to NewOnNetflixUK, seasons one through three became available on February 7th, 2024, and season four followed on February 14th.

It appears February 13th will be the last day to watch The Durrells. Interestingly, even though the show first aired on ITV1, you can’t currently stream it on ITVX.

You can currently stream it on Disney+. It’s been available since June of last year, so it’s probably safe to watch for the next few months.

The show features Josh O’Connor, known for his roles in Challengers and Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery. This is his first leading role in a TV series, preceding his portrayal of Prince Charles in The Crown.

Critics really like the show, giving it a 94% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Seasons 2 and 3 are particularly well-received, with a perfect 100% score based on reviews from eight critics each.

Honestly, this show isn’t super dramatic or hilarious, but it’s just really pleasant to watch. It’s a super cozy vibe, and I actually think it came out right before everyone started making shows like this. It feels like a pioneer of the cozy genre, you know?

According to The Guardian, the work is delightful – sweet, charming, and amusing, but in a light and gentle way, never overly or aggressively funny.

According to The Telegraph, this offers a much-needed, expertly crafted escape, and the Sunday Times described it as incredibly comforting and relaxing – something you’ll want to fully immerse yourself in.

The Durrells is available on Disney+ and (for now) Netflix.

The latest issue of Living Legends is out now, and it’s dedicated to the incredible Dolly Parton! You can purchase ‘Dolly at 80’ at newsstands or online for only £8.99.
