Noah Oppenheim, who wrote the screenplay for Kathryn Bigelow’s new Netflix film, A House of Dynamite, has given an update on his next project: a thriller bringing Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock back together. Bigelow, known for directing Zero Dark Thirty, worked with Oppenheim on A House of Dynamite, which is currently available to stream on Netflix and centers around a nuclear missile attack on the White House.
Noah Oppenheim wrote the screenplay for Pablo Larraín’s film Jackie and was a producer on the miniseries Zero Day. He’s also written popular young adult films like The Maze Runner (2014) and The Divergent Series: Allegiant (2016). Currently, he’s co-writing a new Jack Ryan project and developing a romantic thriller for Amazon MGM Studios starring Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock.
In a recent interview with The Playlist, writer Daniel Oppenheim revealed he’s currently working on a new thriller. He highlighted the exciting part of the project: reuniting Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock. Oppenheim explained that the film will showcase the fantastic chemistry Reeves and Bullock have always shared on screen, adding that both actors are very involved and collaborative.
Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock both saw their careers take off after starring together in the 1994 action hit, Speed, which is still a classic of the genre. Following Speed, Reeves truly became an action movie star, landing his most famous roles as Neo in The Matrix (1999) and, later, as John Wick, beginning in 2014. He’s consistently appeared in some of the greatest action films ever made.
Sandra Bullock is a versatile actress who has appeared in many different kinds of films, including action, drama, comedy, and thrillers like Miss Congeniality, Gravity, Ocean’s Eight, Bird Box, and Bullet Train. She’s also returning to her popular role as Sally Owens in the upcoming Practical Magic 2. Keanu Reeves also has several projects in the works, and his latest movie, Good Fortune, was recently released.
Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock last appeared together on screen in the 2006 film The Lake House. According to reports, the idea for a new project came from screenwriter D.V. DeVincentis and producer Mark Gordon, who then pitched it to Reeves and Bullock for development. Amazon MGM describes the story as a fast-paced romantic thriller, but details are still being kept secret, and a director hasn’t been chosen yet.
The film is being produced by Bullock’s Fortis Films, along with Reeves, Mark Gordon, and Bibby Dunn from The Mark Gordon Company, and Oppenheim and Sarah Bremner of Prologue Entertainment. However, Oppenheim’s critically acclaimed film, A House of Dynamite, is generating Oscar talk and suggests his upcoming thriller is definitely one to watch.
