KCAL journalist Chauncy Glover’s cause of death revealed, ruled an accident
According to reports from the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner, the Emmy-award winning news anchor, Chauncy Glover, passed away due to an accident, with traces of drugs found in his body.
On Wednesday, the medical examiner’s office declared that the 39-year-old’s sudden demise was due to a severe overdose from the mix of chemicals chloroethane and methamphetamine. They categorized his death as an unfortunate accident.
On November 5th, emergency responders from the fire department declared Glover unconscious at his residence, and he was later confirmed deceased around midnight. A preliminary examination by a deputy medical examiner took place the following day, followed by tests and studies to determine the cause and manner of death. The results, including the full report, are anticipated to be available by the end of March.
According to both the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and the Environmental Protection Agency, chloroethane (or ethyl chloride) is a colorless gas or liquid that has a strong smell. It’s commonly used as a solvent, refrigerant, topical anesthetic, in dye and chemical production, pharmaceuticals, and for treating pain caused by insect bites and stings.
It is not yet clear how Glover came into contact with the chemical.
