Kaya Scodelario’s horror hit to get an unexpected sequel
As a gamer with a penchant for survival horror games and a soft spot for well-crafted films that keep me on the edge of my seat, I must confess my excitement about the upcoming sequel to “Crawl.” Having braved countless virtual alligator encounters in swampy digital terrains, I can’t help but feel a frisson of anticipation at the prospect of witnessing this chilling tale unfold on the big screen once more.
Kaya Scodelario’s alligator horror Crawl is set to get a sequel from director Alexandre Aja.
I’m pumped to share that I’ll be back at the helm for the next installment of the Crawl franchise, having directed the original movie that dropped in 2019. Alongside me will be Craig Flores and the legendary Sam Raimi, creator of Evil Dead, who backed our first film. (Gathering this team via The Hollywood Reporter.)
As a seasoned horror fan who has spent countless hours watching spine-tingling films, I am thrilled to learn that Crawl 2 is set to begin filming this autumn in Europe. Having grown up on a diet of classic horror movies and their modern-day counterparts, I have developed a keen eye for quality storytelling and suspenseful plotlines. The fact that Andrew Deutschman and Jason Pagan are writing the script for Crawl 2 fills me with confidence, as they are the minds behind Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension and Project Almanac – two films that have left a lasting impression on me due to their unique blends of horror and science fiction. I eagerly await the release of Crawl 2, hoping that it will continue the legacy of its predecessor while offering something fresh and exciting for fans like myself to sink our teeth into.
In the initial release of the movie “Crawl,” Scarlett Cohan (Scodelario) and Barry Pepper portrayed a father-daughter pair who found themselves stranded in a Florida residence, pursued by menacing alligators as they navigated through a Category 5 hurricane.
Fans of Gemma Chan may be disappointed to hear that she won’t be appearing in the upcoming film “Crawl 2”. Instead, the sequel is set to introduce fresh plotlines and characters, relocating the action from Florida to the city streets of New York, where danger lurks in urban settings.
More recently, actress Sofia Boutella, who was last seen in Netflix’s “The Gentlemen,” has been cast in Alex Winter’s upcoming dark comedy titled “Adulthood.” This film also stars Winter himself, Billie Lourd from “Booksmart,” Josh Gad known for his role in “Frozen,” and Anthony Carrigan, a familiar face from “Barry.”
“The story centers around siblings Megan and Noah, both struggling to make ends meet in contemporary America, much like many of us.”
As I rummage through old boxes in my parents’ basement, I stumble upon a chilling discovery: a long-forgotten corpse. This grim find sends me spiraling back to the small town I thought I had left behind forever. But it seems fate has other plans, pulling me into a dark vortex of crime and murder, where every corner holds a new secret waiting to be unearthed.
Crawl 2 doesn’t have a release date yet. The Gentlemen is available to stream on Netflix.
