She made history as the first pop star in space on the first ever all-female flight from Earth.
It seems unlikely that Katy Perry’s upcoming tour will match her past record-breaking successes, given the difficulty she’s encountered in selling tickets for her U.S. shows, which start in Houston, Texas, in just two weeks.
Katy Perry, who is now 40 years old, kicked off her Lifetimes Tour last night in Mexico and will be visiting various cities throughout North America in the coming weeks as part of promoting her seventh studio album titled 143. This album received mostly negative reviews when it was released in September by music critics.
However, it appears that Perry’s sales are concerningly low, as numerous seats remain unsold across various venues, based on the official seat charts provided by Ticketmaster.
It’s said that she aspired to replicate the triumph of Taylor Swift’s record-breaking Eras tour, yet concerns arise as some believe her participation in Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin flight might have hindered her ability to make late sales.
In Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Denver, Colorado, there’s an abundance of unsold tickets for shows, as numerous seats remain vacant. On the other hand, tickets (priced over $50) and resale options are available for the initial U.S. date in Houston on May 7.

On her upcoming visit to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on May 9th, the number of remaining seats is troublingly high.
Although the exact number of Beyoncé’s VIP packages, priced at $200 and above, that remain available isn’t certain, there are tickets for most shows, and some resales are being advertised for over $1000 on specific dates. The same trend is seen with Beyonce’s forthcoming Cowboy Carter tour, which begins on Monday.
A source shared with DailyMail.com that worries about low ticket sales for Blue Origin existed even prior to its launch. The sales figures were quite disappointing. Katy had high hopes that her tour would gain momentum similar to Taylor’s, but unfortunately, that didn’t turn out to be the case.
At Live Nation, some top officials had doubts from the start. Discussions have been ongoing regarding potential actions if the venues continue to remain underoccupied.
Insufficient ticket purchases represents a fresh setback for the struggling celebrity, who this week had to call off two shows in Guadalajara, Mexico on May 1st and 2nd due to the venue where they were supposed to perform not being constructed in time.
She informed her heartbroken followers that she’s unable to resolve the issue at hand because it lies outside of her power. However, she promised to craft a memorable experience for them in Guadalajara at some point in the future.
Several locations appear to be nearing full capacity, such as Perry’s concerts in Chicago, Illinois on May 12th and various dates outside the U.S. Furthermore, seat maps for performances in Edmonton, Montreal, and Toronto, Canada during late July and early August indicate that entire sections of seating have already been reserved.
Extra dates were also added in Europe and Australia due to high demand.

As I share this update, I find myself reflecting on a recent event that has generated quite a buzz – my recent journey aboard the Blue Origin spacecraft. This flight, while only 11 minutes long, has been the subject of much conversation, particularly given its all-female crew comprising of media personalities like Gayle King and Lauren Sanchez, NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, film producer Kerianne Flynn, and activist Amanda Nguyen. Together, we embarked on an extraordinary voyage that will undoubtedly inspire future generations of women in science, technology, and space exploration.
Perry was spotted within the capsule carrying a daisy as a tribute to her 4-year-old daughter Daisy, who she has with her partner Orlando Bloom.
Upon my return to Earth, I was met with derision, yet as I unveiled the bloom in my grasp and gazed upwards, I found myself kneeling down, planting a kiss upon the soil below, honoring the planet that had welcomed me back.
Subsequently, she asserted that she was deeply attuned with love and expressed gratitude towards a journalist who mistakenly identified her as an astronaut.
In a post-flight interview, she expressed that it’s not just about performing my songs. It’s more about the unified energy within the crowd. It’s about all of us. It’s about creating room for future women to thrive and asserting our presence, finding our place together.
‘Let’s take a moment to admire and cherish the beautiful world around us, doing so for the greater good of our planet.’
Shortly afterward, her behavior earned her the labels of ‘tone-deaf’ and ‘dramatic’. This happened just following the return of NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore from their extended stay in space over nine months.
According to a trustworthy insider, she expressed remorse over turning the journey into a public display, as she initially believed it would generate positive publicity for her tour.

Last night at the CDMX Arena in Mexico City, she seemed to respond to her critics. In a way that resonated with the audience, she asked, “Was anyone ever told their aspirations were foolish?
Perry also posed for a selfie with two men wearing blue NASA jumpsuits.
Initially, Perry encountered a tough situation as her album 143, released in September 2024, received the lowest scores on Metacritic since 2011, making her journey more challenging.
Perry faced intense criticism ahead of its release over her decision to collaborate with Dr. Luke.
50-year-old music producer found himself at the center of a widely publicized court case involving Kesha, aged 37. The accusations included instances of sexual, physical, and emotional mistreatment. He refuted these allegations. Additionally, Kesha asserted that Perry was herself a victim – an assertion she vehemently denied.
The pair reached a settlement in 2023.
According to another source, Katy’s currently dealing with some stress, and she’s been working to quiet her concerns by concentrating on her family. She’s aware that ticket sales in the U.S. aren’t great, but she truly aims to give her fans an outstanding performance.
Originally, she believed her album would be successful among her audience, but unfortunately, it failed to connect with them. She wanted to create an album on her own terms, choosing to work with Dr. Luke, a choice that ultimately proved unwise. In the hopes of boosting publicity for her tour, she decided to go on a space flight, only for things to take a turn for the worse instead.

Perry is scheduled to perform a total of 81 shows spread across North America, South America, Canada, Europe, Australia, and China, with two consecutive nights in China. The tour concludes in Abu Dhabi on December 7.
She invited fans to come dressed as their preferred moment from her extensive career, hinting that they might even have a chance to appear on stage during the performance.
It’s not unexpected that Perry found inspiration in Swift, aged 34, who shattered records with her Eras Tour, earning over $1 billion in sales – a record-breaking achievement and the highest grossing tour ever.
Spanning over 3.5 hours, each show consists of a 44-song set list from the singer’s 17-year career.
During the course of Madonna’s Celebration Tour, a tribute to her four-decade career, they amassed an impressive $77 million from ticket sales.
