Once more, Katy Perry is trending on the internet, mere weeks after her controversial Blue Origin space voyage incited significant online criticism.

On this occasion, the artist behind Teenage Dream won’t face criticism, instead finding some relief.

Although Perry missed out on Monday’s high-profile Met Gala, she still garnered the title of ‘best dressed’ as images generated by AI, showcasing her at the event, gained popularity online.

In the museum’s famous staircase, Perry poses elegantly, displaying a sleek, black latex dress with a striped blazer bodice that has a chic cut-out design.

The bold outfit perfectly suited the person many thought was the real Katy Perry on social media, despite being a fake.

Fans declared that Perry’s appearance took the title of “best outfit” for the evening, surpassing other notable attendees such as Kim Kardashian, Rihanna, and Gigi Hadid.

Ever since I stumbled upon those AI photos, I can’t help but call Taylor Swift the “Queen of the Met Gala”! It’s like she owns the red carpet and steals the show every single time.

Perry’s most ardent supporters swiftly recognized that the images were artificially created by AI, despite some being deceived by them.

One user of X noted an apparent oversight in a particular shot featuring Perry, where her dress appeared to blend seamlessly with her skin, suggesting that the images may have been manipulated or doctored.

It was observed by fans that Perry’s name wasn’t on the leaked guest list for the Met Gala, leading many to speculate that she probably didn’t go since she’s set to kick off the North American leg of her Lifetimes Tour this very week.

AI images of Perry also went viral online last year when she skipped the 2024 Met Gala.

Enthusiasts crafted captivating phony images of her attending the yearly exclusive event, dressed in a dramatic floral dress, which swiftly became popular on platforms like X, Instagram, and Reddit.

Perry handled the AI-generated images casually, sharing two of the deceptive ones on Instagram simultaneously, accompanied by a message from her mother, who was among the numerous individuals deceived at that moment.

In a recent post, Perry expressed she couldn’t attend the MET due to work commitments. This message was shared with her impressive 207 million fans.

Mom’s message to Feather said, ‘Hey Feather! I didn’t realize you were at the Metropolitan Museum. Wow, that dress is stunning on you! You look just like the Rose Parade, as if you’re a floating beauty all by yourself!’

In a different phrase, Mary’s message contained a fake image as well. However, Perry replied to the message with a chuckle, “lol mom, even the AI tricked you! Stay alert!

Perry has not attended the Met Gala, often referred to as fashion’s biggest night, since 2022. 

For nine occasions now, the Grammy Award nominee has graced the exclusive Met Gala since her first appearance there back in 2009.

Along with Perry, a slew of A-list guests were also absent from the 2025 event.

The attendees did not include Ariana Grande, Jennifer Lopez, Selena Gomez, Sarah Jessica Parker, Lady Gaga, Blake Lively, Bella Hadid, or Beyoncé.

On Monday evening, the grandest event in fashion unfolded at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

Every year, the event adopts a specific theme, and this year it’s “Superfine: Crafting Black Style,” drawing inspiration from the work of Monica Miller, particularly her book titled “Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Expression of Black Diasporic Identity.

At Barnard College, Monica holds the position of Chair for Africana Studies, and she also serves as a professor at the institution.

As Monica explains, Black dandyism serves as a method and resource for redefining personal identity and envisioning oneself in a new setting.

Exploring and challenging boundaries, particularly during times of slavery, by questioning and redefining who or what is considered human, was indeed a significant endeavor, as portrayed in Vogue.

The attached display presents a variety of items such as clothing, artwork (paintings), photos, and videos, each highlighting the style in Black male fashion.

2025’s gala topic centered around men’s fashion, marking 22 years since the “Gents in Kilts” event, the inaugural gala exclusively dedicated to men’s attire.

At the Met Gala of 2025, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Colman Domingo, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour shared the role of co-chairs. Lebron James served as the event’s honorary chairman.

The guest list for the annual soiree was leaked just hours before kick off.
