Katy Perry ‘regrets’ Blue Origin flight, but for all the wrong reasons

Katy Perry‘s music has never particularly appealed to me personally. As for her as an individual, I haven’t taken much interest in her because celebrities often seem too distant and unapproachable for my tastes (there are exceptions, though this isn’t one of them). What really irks me is her self-declared role as a champion for women. In reality, she seems more focused on promoting herself than genuinely supporting others.

To honor and uplift women, femininity, or whatever term resonates with you, it’s essential to support one another genuinely. Lifting others doesn’t mean a quick, fleeting experience in weightlessness; instead, it involves fostering a sense of camaraderie, empowerment, and mutual growth among women.

As reported by The Daily Mail, Perry appears to be expressing remorse over the dramatic presentation she put on during the event, which included waving a daisy, kneeling down, and delivering an extended speech about love, as if she had just returned from a multi-month space mission – indicating that she might be reconsidering her actions.

The main criticism leveled at this endeavor is that it focuses too much on the brief period of time the all-female team will spend in space. It seems she strives excessively to be perceived as a female championing women, but “Woman’s World” may not achieve that goal, given her project collaborators. Let me demonstrate where Katy Perry has genuinely backed other women.

The price of just one ticket for this type of flight is said to run in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, not including operational costs. What has people upset isn’t that Katy Perry brought a daisy into space, but rather the fact that using immense resources for anything other than helping women – financially, emotionally, and physically – feels incredibly wrong.

Consider reflecting on your words. Reflect on that flower. Perhaps take a moment to ponder how instead of utilizing a significant stage for announcing an upcoming tour or acknowledging your daughter, you could have possibly brought attention to a pressing global matter instead. Instead of women’s genuine concerns being the focal point of your space voyage, as it typically is, it was once again all about you.
