Katy Perry Ignites Controversy at Invictus Games Amid Veteran’s Plea for Her Removal!
At the 2025 Invictus Games held in Vancouver, Canada, Katy Perry captivated the audience during the opening ceremony on a Saturday with her electrifying performance.
As a die-hard admirer, I couldn’t help but feel a surge of pride when the renowned pop star, who shares my age, graced the stage at the event she’d chosen to support – an initiative founded by none other than Prince Harry, also 40, and his extraordinary partner Meghan Markle, 43, my cherished Montecito neighbors. What a magical moment it was!
At BC Place stadium, the performer concluded the opening ceremony by singing several popular songs such as Firework, Dark Horse, Roar, and Part of Me.
Perry chose a stylish athletic outfit; she donned a sleeveless vest atop a white corset, paired with grey gym shorts. The look was accentuated by futuristic over-the-knee white boots and garters.
Despite a request from the family of disabled veteran Carl Westcott, 84, who’s been involved in a lengthy legal dispute with Perry regarding her $15M Montecito mansion, there’s speculation that Meghan Markle may still attend the event, despite Prince Harry’s involvement.
As the creator of the Invictus Games, I’ve found myself unwillingly drawn into a dispute, given that these are prestigious global multi-sport events designed to honor wounded, injured, and ill military personnel, both active duty and veterans.

I had the honor of being accompanied on stage by a vast group, such as the Naden Band of the Royal Canadian Navy, the 15th Field Regiment Band, the Royal Canadian Artillery Band, 70 members of the Invictus Games Dance Corp, and 10 Invictus Games puppeteers and performers. This was as reported by People.
Additionally, the event showcased Chris Martin from Coldplay, Nelly Furtado, Roxanne Bruneau, and Noah Kahan giving their performances.
By December 2024, it became public knowledge that Westcott’s family had penned a critical letter to Prince Harry, following swiftly on the heels of Perry being named the headliner for the Invictus Games.
For the past four years, Katharine Westcott, the previous owner of Katy Perry’s Montecito mansion, has found herself entangled in a legal dispute with Perry. Most recently, Perry filed a countersuit seeking $6 million in damages. Despite this turn of events, the Westcott family remains resolute and unwilling to back down from their stance.
A missive dispatched to Prince Harry, which was exclusively acquired by DailyMail.com, saw Chart Westcott, Carl’s offspring, expressing apprehensions about Perry participating in the Invictus Games, as shared within its contents.
In addition to being a married couple, they (He and Meghan) are good friends and neighbors with Perry and her partner, Orlando Bloom (who may have to appear in court due to a legal dispute with Westcott), residing in the same neighborhood of Montecito, California.
For more than a year now, Carl, who served in the U.S. Army for an extended period, has been confined to his bed due to his ongoing struggle against Huntington’s disease. Since the onset of the legal proceedings, his family has taken over managing his legal affairs because he has been unable to think clearly, a condition that started during the lawsuit.
In a letter to the British royalty, Chart pens, ‘My dad, a member of the 101st Airborne Division, was among those sent by President Eisenhower to maintain peace during the turbulent times of the Little Rock Nine crisis, upholding civil rights.’
His long-standing career as an entrepreneur, recognized with his inclusion in the Horatio Alger Society for Distinguished Americans, reflects the tenacity and ideals admired at the Invictus Games.

Sadly, at 85 years old and confined to bed due to Huntington’s disease, he found himself in a lengthy legal conflict with Ms. Perry regarding his property in Montecito, yet due to his condition, he couldn’t fully express his side of the story.
Mr. Westcott continues by detailing the protracted court case, adding that the next trial is set for February 25th.
In the face of our father’s deteriorating health, my brother and I are battling to uphold his legacy, both personally and as a veteran. However, this ongoing legal dispute has unfortunately caused significant distress within our family. To clarify, my brother Court, who is married to Kameron Westcott from The Real Housewives of Dallas, is also part of this ordeal.
It seems unusual or inconsistent to showcase Ms. Perry at the Invictus Games, given that the event is primarily intended to recognize and respect the efforts and sacrifices made by veterans.
Although Miss Perry’s actions might appear as a show of support for veterans, they paint a contrasting picture when we consider her persistent legal chasing after our father – a narrative that significantly challenges the principles the Games uphold.
The chart wraps up by politely asking Prince Harry to rethink his choice of including Firework singer in the Vancouver lineup.
He expresses, ‘Our family holds the Invictus Foundation in high regard for its dedication to veterans globally. We feel it’s essential to acknowledge those whose deeds reflect these ideals, as it helps maintain the honor and authenticity associated with this occasion.’
During an interview with DailyMail.com, Chart elaborated on the reasons behind his family’s choice to pen a letter to Prince Harry.
In an exclusive chat with DailyMail.com, Chart gave insight into why his family chose to correspond with Prince Harry through a letter.
Chart expressed that it appeared as though he was uninformed about the event and Katy’s behavior, as well as her apparent absence of empathy towards their family and his father.
“She doesn’t seem interested in disabled veterans, let alone those who participate in the Invictus Games. Given that Harry is a veteran and values this connection, I would expect him not to associate himself or the games with anyone or anything that hasn’t supported the veterans community in the past.
By May, Perry had taken ownership of a $15 million property following her receiving the right to the Montecito estate.

She legally transferred the title of the property from Westcott, now being its rightful owner. At present, she’s busy with renovations as she aims to recover $6 million in repair costs and lost earnings.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d put it this way: Every day, I find myself grappling with the emotional weight of our ongoing real estate struggle. It’s like an invisible giant in the room, casting a shadow over everything. The stress has been relentless…It’s heartrending. That house was where my family member, Carl, envisioned spending his last days, and him being unable to remain there has significantly affected his wellbeing, contributing greatly to his current state.
In 2020, ailing Westcott consented to sell his residence, which has eight bedrooms, to Perry for $15 million. However, just a few days later, he attempted to cancel the agreement, stating that he had been under the influence of painkillers when he signed it.
In 2023, it was legally established that Perry owned the elegant 1930s estate, complete with a tennis court, two guest houses, and a swimming pool, as per a court decision that had previously validated the contract.
Adele is attempting to reduce the sale price by approximately $6 million, arguing that the elderly owner, who is bedridden, has outstanding bills for repairs and missed rental earnings due to property maintenance and vacancy.
In this scenario, I would rephrase it as follows: As a lifestyle expert, I must inform you that I’ll personally need to present my arguments in court, following a California judge’s decision. This is due to the upcoming damages trial where I’ll confront Westcott’s upset family members. They claim that this prolonged legal battle has negatively impacted their cherished patriarch’s last moments, which they describe as emotionally draining.
