Katy Perry Defends Her Tour Amid Online Hatred and Criticism
As a die-hard Katy Perry fan, I can’t contain my excitement about her finally addressing the buzz surrounding her being labeled as the “most hated person online.” With a string of mishaps during her Lifetime world tour, it’s refreshing to hear her voice on this matter.
On May 12th, the artist famed for “Teenage Dream” tunes, now 40 years old, who had been playfully teased about her ‘mom moves’ during the tour’s debut last month, captivated a packed audience at Chicago’s United Center. Emotionally charged, she acknowledged the enthusiastic crowd with applause.
In a fan-recorded video, the celebrity pauses for a brief instant to survey her audience, and remarks: “I guess I wasn’t as universally disliked online as I thought.
‘I think that’s false’ Perry gushed as the cheering got louder.
Katy Perry kicked off her Lifetimes Tour last month in Mexico, and she’s set to perform at various locations throughout North America as part of promoting her seventh album, titled 143. This album received a lot of negative feedback from critics when it was released in September.
Sales for the tour haven’t been strong compared to when the singer was most popular. As of now, there are still a significant number of unsold tickets for her show in Dallas, Texas on May 21 at the American Airlines Center, with prices starting at just $50.

It appears that Katy Perry knew she wasn’t the most despised individual on the internet when she performed for a packed audience in Chicago!

It’s not certain how many of her premium tickets, priced at over $200 each, remain unsold. However, tickets for the majority of nights are available, and some resellers are listing tickets for more than $1000 on specific dates.
It was noted that there had been worries regarding disappointing ticket sales for Blue Origin prior to the mention, as reported by DailyMail.com last month. The sales figures were far from promising. Katy, it seemed, had anticipated her tour to gain traction similarly to Taylor’s, but this was not the case.
At Live Nation, some top-level decision makers had reservations right from the start. Discussions have been ongoing regarding potential actions should the venues continue to remain largely empty.
For selected dates in July and August (specifically in Edmonton, Montreal, and Toronto), seat reservations are fully occupied across entire sections.
Extra dates were also added in Europe and Australia due to high demand.
Last month social media users were merciless in making fun of her stilted, awkward choreography.
One onlooker grumbled, “It’s not the mother who is moving,” while another quipped humorously, “Perhaps she would have been better off spending less time in space and more time practicing, ha-ha.
One online user likened her actions to ‘a cat self-grooming,’ another labeled her as ‘completely devoid of soul,’ while yet another was astounded that ‘her admirers dare claim she’s a superior performer to Gaga… goodbye.’
Additionally, she faced unflattering comparisons to Taylor Swift, as a user of X remarked: “This girl, what’s going on here? Even Taylor dances more gracefully.

The news emerged during the continuous criticism surrounding her controversial 11-minute space journey, where she was part of an all-woman Blue Origin team that included Gayle King, Lauren Sanchez, NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, film producer Kerianne Flynn, and activist Amanda Nguyen.
Perry could be spotted within the capsule carrying a daisy as a tribute to her 4-year-old daughter Daisy, who she co-parents with her partner, Orlando Bloom.
Upon returning to Earth, she faced mockery as she stepped out with a flower in her hand, raising it up towards the heavens before bending down and planting a kiss on the ground.
Later on, she went on to assert that she was deeply attuned with love and expressed gratitude towards a journalist who mistakenly identified her as an astronaut.
In a post-flight interview, she expressed that it’s not merely about performing my songs. Instead, it’s about the shared energy within that crowd. It’s about us, the collective. It’s about creating room for future women to shine and asserting our presence, while also embracing our sense of belonging.
Let’s cherish and admire the beautiful world around us, doing so for the wellbeing of our planet.
Shortly afterward, she was labeled as ‘tone-insensitive’ and ‘overly dramatic’, following the return of NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore to Earth, having spent over nine months in space.
A confidential informant shared with DailyMail.com that she felt remorseful over turning the journey into a public display, believing it was meant to generate positive publicity for her tour.
