Katy Perry addresses claims she stole her daughter’s name from a notable Aussie celebrity – ahead of her long-awaited AFL Grand Final show
As someone who has grown up listening to Katy Perry’s music and admiring her unique style, I was thrilled to learn about her upcoming performance at the AFL Grand Final. It’s not every day you get to see such a global superstar perform live!
Katy Perry has addressed claims she stole her daughter’s name from a notable Australian celebrity.
The American pop star, 39, is currently Down Under ahead of her hotly-anticipated AFL Grand Final performance at the MCG on Saturday.
She spoke to radio hosts Brendan Fevola and Nick Cody about the gig and they also quizzed her on claims she took her daughter Daisy’s name from their friend.
They remembered the time when Katy got acquainted with their co-host Fifi Box, along with her daughter Daisy Belle (now 5 years old), during her previous appearance on their program, The Fox’s Fifi, Fev & Nick.
The pair wondered aloud to Katy if their encounter with Fifi’s daughter might have influenced the naming of their child, Daisy Dove Bloom, since they remembered her expressing fondness for that name in the past.
The artist known for “Roar” expressed shock but admitted that perhaps subconsciously, this could have influenced her decision to name her daughter Daisy, who is now 4 years old, approximately a year later.
Did it originate there, perhaps unconsciously?” Katy wondered as she spoke with Brendan and Nick during their radio broadcast on Thursday.
In addition to being fond of Disney and Daisy Duck, it could be a blend of Daisy from Australia and the cartoon character, Daisy Duck.
As a die-hard admirer of yours, Katy, I couldn’t help but be intrigued when I heard you and Orlando Bloom named your precious little one Daisy. What really piqued my interest was the tidbit that you had another special name in mind for her too! Can you imagine what it could have been? Alas, you decided to go with something different instead. Fascinating, isn’t it how the perfect name sometimes eludes us until we find the one that truly fits?
She mentioned that she gave her another name, which was Jupiter, but that’s clearly not her correct name, as she is most certainly not like the planet Jupiter.
‘She’s a Daisy through and through, and having the last name Bloom is beautiful.’
On Saturday, the lead vocalist from Dark Horse will perform live before an audience of 100,000 AFL enthusiasts as the Sydney Swans compete against the Brisbane Lions.
It’s said that she’ll be earning an impressive $5 million for her brief pre-match show, where she’ll only play five tunes.
It has been reported that there was a disagreement between Katy and the AFL regarding her song selection for their event, as her team allegedly resisted a demand that she avoid performing new tracks.
On Monday’s edition of SEN Breakfast, seasoned AFL reporter Tom Morris stated that a deal has been struck with Katy, where she will only add one additional track to the existing ones.
He mentioned that she was planning to perform approximately five songs, with the AFL expressing a strong interest in hearing five classic tracks from her. However, she had a desire to incorporate two fresh, new songs into her set.
‘In the end they met halfway and she’s playing one new song and four classics.’
Kane Cornes, who’s both a co-host and an AFL legend, shared his fondness for Katy Perry, suggesting that the AFL might also have input when it comes to organizing the high-profile stadium concert.
He stated, “All we desire from you are your hard-hitting plays, your power moves, and your top-quality performances.
Instead of repeatedly asking for specific old songs, they desire all the familiar tunes we adore. However, instead of playing these classics, she prefers performing two of her recent compositions, as she has indicated a refusal to comply with their requests.
When you attend a concert, it’s often the case that you’re more interested in hearing their best songs rather than everything they’ve ever produced. Essentially, you’re after their top hits.
The AFL has asked for Katy Perry’s cooperation, and she’s responded by expressing her desire to showcase some of her fresh tunes.
On a Wednesday report, it was exclusively disclosed by Daily Mail Australia that Tina Arena will additionally display her singing abilities during this weekend’s grand sports event on Saturday.
Australia’s renowned star, aged 56, is set to appear as a distinguished guest, joining Katy Perry and Cody Simpson, who will perform the national anthem.
Organizers anticipate that she might deliver a stunning television moment, similar to when Delta Goodrem collaborated with Robbie Williams during the previous year’s grand finale.
It remains uncertain if Tina, who performs songs in English, Italian, French, and Spanish, will perform during the pre-game, halftime, or post-match events.
It appears that, due to some issues with previously planned performances, Tina (famous for her song “Burn” and the cover of “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina”) is now set to take the stage instead of Kylie Minogue.
Katy kept quiet about Tina joining The Fox’s Fifi, Fev & Nick, subtly hinting: “I guess you’ll find out if you tune in.
However, she then teased: ‘All I know is that it’s a fellow Scorpio… and she’s great.’
