Katie Thurston Opens Up

Katie Thurston openly discusses the effects of her breast cancer fight on her marriage with comedian Jeff Arcuri, particularly concerning their intimate life.

In her Instagram story posted on Saturday, the 34-year-old expressed that it might be temporary, given all the health issues she’s been dealing with recently, when asked about any changes in intimacy following her diagnosis in February.

She went on to say, ‘This past month has been tough on my body.’ However, as time passes and everything calms down, I expect my body to heal, returning things to their usual state.

Katie, who got married to Jeff in March, has been dealing with a storm of emotional and physical hurdles recently, and the last few weeks have added an unforeseen turn to her medical path.

In the video message, she explained that just 24 hours before her initial chemotherapy session, she was all set with a port installed and a chemo bag prepared. However, she received a call from her doctor who said, “Let me stop you for a moment,” indicating an unexpected alteration in her treatment plan.

Initially diagnosed with stage 3 triple-positive breast cancer, Katie decided to get a second opinion, discovering that her condition might be more advanced – stage 4 cancer – and potentially not even triple-positive as initially thought.

Just yesterday, I shared with my whopping 779,000 fans an exciting update about myself – I’ve been confirmed HER2 negative! This little detail has a huge impact on the road ahead for my treatment and future outlook. Can’t contain my excitement!

In sharing my journey openly, I’ve learned that battling cancer isn’t just a physical fight; it’s an emotional rollercoaster that touches every aspect of life. Yet, through the ups and downs, I remain committed to my struggle – not just with medical tenacity, but with honesty, resilience, and compassion that resonates from my heart.

Recently, the ex-Bachelorette shared insights into how her views on motherhood evolved following her relationship with the well-known comic.

One day, you might believe that having children isn’t something you desire, she penned. But then there comes a time when you encounter the ideal partner, and you would go to great lengths to ensure we can build a family together in the future.

That dream finds her immersed in the depths of fertility procedures, which she’s openly sharing about.

On her ‘Boobie Broadcast’ channel, Katie explained her daily routine for those not acquainted with fertility treatment: ‘Here’s a typical plan: Taking three pills each day to control my estrogen levels. In the morning, I give myself an injection in my abdomen. In the evening, I self-administer two injections into my abdomen.’

She mentioned, “I’ve entered my second week preparing for the egg retrieval, and my feelings are all over the place. My sleep patterns and dreams have been bizarre as well, leaving me feeling exhausted.

Despite feeling drained, Katie continued to express gratitude: ‘I get another two weeks to do this all over again.’

Regardless, it became clear as she acknowledged, ‘A part of me yearns to allow my body time to heal or get ready for the potential cancer treatments I’ll face in April.’

On February 13, Katie received a diagnosis following the discovery of a painful lump in her breast, even though there was no cancer history in her family. Originally, she was scheduled to start participating in the I-Spy breast cancer study this week.

Even as things in the hospital remain busy, life for Katie and Jeff outside hasn’t shown any signs of slowing. They met on Instagram just a year prior, and by the next five months, they were engaged. Their special moment came when they exchanged “I do’s” in a small backyard ceremony held in March, with only their parents present to witness this beautiful occasion.

Arcuri’s comedy tour runs until October 23rd, so a significant part of their first year as a married couple will take place in hotels and backstage areas around the nation.

Prior to these current events, Katie had been working as a bank marketing manager. However, she gained nationwide popularity during Matt James’ season in 2021 on Bachelor Nation, ultimately earning the title of The Bachelorette herself.

She got engaged to Blake Moynes (six months), then dated John Hersey (seven months).
