Katie Price’s husband, Lee Andrews, says he’s working on getting her a driver’s license in the UAE so she can start driving again. This comes after Price was banned from driving in the UK for the seventh time.
The 47-year-old former model received a six-month driving ban because she didn’t respond to police notices regarding an 80mph speeding offense.
She recently broke the law again after her Ford Capri was recorded traveling at 80mph on the A64 near Sutton, North Yorkshire.
She was found guilty of not replying to the police after they sent a letter confirming she owned the car and she didn’t respond.
Lee, 41, is confident that Katie will be back to driving shortly, as she’s expected to get a driver’s license from the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority.
The businessman, known for his wealth, married the TV star in January, a mere ten days after they first met. They later had a legal ceremony, which worried her fans and family because of rumors that her new husband was involved in scams.
Changes this month will improve the connection between the UK’s DVLA and the RTA, potentially making it more difficult for Katie to get a license.
The Sun reports that Katie might be able to drive in Dubai if her license was originally issued before her driving ban. However, she would have to legally inform her insurance company about the ban in the UK.
If she failed to disclose the band, she could face to deportation, a fine or jail.
If the application was received after Katie’s ban, the RTA will find her foreign licenses are invalid and the application will be denied.
When asked if Katie is allowed to drive in Dubai, her representative said they weren’t sure and that she would need to check the local regulations.
Lee stated that Katie is expected to get a Golden Visa thanks to her marriage, letting her live and work here for five or ten years.
When applying for a visa, you must submit a marriage certificate that has been officially certified by the UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
A spokesperson responded to the question about Katie’s driving eligibility in Dubai by saying they weren’t sure and that Katie would need to investigate the requirements herself.
Daily Mail has contacted a representative for Katie Price for further comment.
Court documents reveal Katie faces charges for speeding and not providing details to identify the driver of the vehicle.
Last Tuesday at Harrogate Magistrates’ Court, Magistrate Claire Sagar convicted Price of not responding to a police charge.
She ordered Price to pay a £660 fine, £120 in costs, and a £264 victim surcharge.
Katie has faced multiple driving bans. She received a six-month ban in December 2010 after admitting to speeding, a year-long disqualification in 2012 for ignoring speeding tickets, and another six-month ban in February 2018 after being caught speeding again.
In January 2019, she appeared in court and pleaded guilty to driving without a valid license, resulting in a three-month driving ban.
Just a month after that, she was found guilty of driving under the influence after police saw her car swerve off the road and onto the grass shoulder.
Katie told authorities a stranger was driving when the incident occurred and had fled before police got there, but the judge didn’t find her story believable.
I was so upset to hear that Katie was convicted later in 2019. Apparently, after a car accident, she didn’t reveal who was driving, and as a result, she lost her license for eighteen months. It’s a really tough situation, and I feel for her.
In 2021, a judge strongly criticized Katie’s driving history, calling it one of the worst they’d ever seen. She received a 16-week suspended jail sentence after being convicted of driving under the influence without a valid license or insurance.
Katie crashed her car and immediately confessed to police that she had used drugs and shouldn’t have been behind the wheel.
She was banned from driving for two years and ordered to complete 100 hours of community service, along with up to 30 sessions of rehabilitation.
‘You appear to think you are above the law,’ District Judge Amanda Kelly told her at the time.
I was so upset to hear that Katie received an £880 fine in 2024 for driving without a license and insurance in Northamptonshire. Thankfully, despite the offenses, the court didn’t take away her driving privileges, which I was relieved about.
Katie and Lee’s relationship has taken an unexpected turn, with Lee recently joining OnlyFans, even though he previously stated he was a billionaire. Meanwhile, Katie has indicated she doesn’t plan to visit him in Dubai anytime soon.
The celebrity from I’m A Celeb has stated she’ll wait for him to come back to the UK. She’s hoping he’ll be able to visit her soon, feeling she’s already fulfilled her part in the situation.
In a recent YouTube video, she discussed her travel arrangements and the challenges of maintaining a long-distance marriage with Lee. Lee has consistently refuted allegations that he’s been prohibited from traveling, following accusations that he fraudulently signed his former girlfriend’s name to obtain a £200,000 loan.
People close to the situation say Lee has left the country, but this hasn’t been confirmed. Meanwhile, Katie has stated she’s hoping he will reach out to her.
She shared that she’s hoping Lee will be able to travel to the UK soon, and when he does, they’re looking forward to spending time together doing everyday things.
It’s great to be back in the UK. I’m putting my plans for Dubai on hold for a while. I’ve spent a good amount of time there, and with the current situation, things are pretty calm. Plus, I have a lot I want to focus on here at home.
I still need to get the house organized and get back to work, though I can work remotely. I just prefer being at home – everything I need is here. It’s funny, because even though I was in Dubai, it wasn’t sunny at all – it actually rained a lot.
She described her visits to Dubai, explaining that she doesn’t treat them like typical vacations. She doesn’t participate in the usual tourist activities…
Dubai is often seen as a place of luxury, with images of lavish pool parties and people showing off expensive cars. That’s certainly one side of the city, but it’s not the whole picture.
It’s not as glamorous as it looks on Instagram when I’m actually there. I just do everyday things, the same things I’d do here.
Honestly, it’s been awful watching all this unfold! Ever since Andrews married Price, everyone’s come out of the woodwork to attack him. His exes are livid, calling him all sorts of names – a ‘scammer’ is the nicest thing they’re saying! They’re practically begging Price to leave him, telling her to get out while she still can. It’s just… a mess, and I’m so worried about her. He used to seem like such a good guy, but now… I don’t know what to think.
