Katie Price reveals son Harvey, 23, is ‘coming home for good’ and entering the ‘real world’ after struggling to find him a place at specialist college due to funding cuts and her bankruptcy
This week, Katie Price announced that her oldest son Harvey will be returning home permanently, as she’s faced difficulties in finding him a spot at a residential college due to budget reductions by the council and her personal bankruptcy.
Previously, the ex-glamour model, aged 47, disclosed plans for the 23-year-old to embark on ‘living independently’ at a location closer to her residence in Sussex. This is a change from earlier complaints about the distance between them.
Harvey is visually impaired, on the autism spectrum, diagnosed with septo-optic dysplasia, has a cognitive learning difficulty, and is among approximately 2,000 individuals in the United Kingdom living with Prader-Willi syndrome, a genetic condition.
Since 2021, he resided in the specialized institution National Star, which costs £350,000 annually. However, due to budget reductions and Katie’s financial struggles, he was removed from there last year.
Since then, she’s faced numerous challenges when it comes to locating a suitable new residence for him. One care home deemed him too challenging, while the West Sussex County Council reduced his financial support.
On her podcast, The Katie Price Show, last week, Katie Price (mother of five) disclosed that Harvey is no longer attending college and instead moving towards experiencing the ‘real world’ outside of educational institutions.

Katie mentioned that Harvey is counting down for his new location. After a graduation ceremony where they hand out certificates, it will be the start of the ‘real world’ for Harvey Price.
She mentioned that he would initially stay at a temporary location, followed by starting his new job in Littlehampton in October.
She mentioned that she located a short-term residence for him in Southampton, where there are five other grown-ups residing as well.
After that, he relocates to Littlehampton, a location closer to me, in October. Essentially, he transitions from college life to living independently.
Overwhelmed with delight, I couldn’t help but share my joy on my very own Facebook page! I posted a heartwarming snapshot – me snuggled up with none other than the legendary Harvey – during a heartfelt college visit.
She titled the touching photo, ‘Back together with my little teddy bear. Twelve days from now, it’s permanent – Harvey is returning home.’
On Tuesday, she posted another photo of them sharing a kiss and excitedly expressed: “I love you so much, Harv! Not much time left” accompanied by the hashtags “#soProudOfYou”, “#FamilyTime”, and “#NewBeginningsAhead”.
On her podcast, Katie openly discussed the challenging ordeal of seeking a new educational facility for Harvey for several months, ever since he had to leave National Star.

In February, she encountered another obstacle as he was asked to leave a care home due to being perceived as too challenging. However, despite this setback, he eventually went back to school afterwards.
During that period, she clarified that Harvey had been out of position several weeks prior to the relocation, as management underwent a change and decided they were unable to accommodate his requirements.
Looking back at our challenging path, she mentioned, “We’ve been laboring tirelessly for months, only to be informed just under a month ago that he wouldn’t be able to join us. Throughout this time, Harvey has been eagerly waiting, ticking off each day on the calendar.
It’s quite taxing as you’re eager to provide the best for your child, which necessitates additional meetings and paperwork, making it a significant investment of both time and energy. The desire for their optimal well-being makes this process rather laborious.
Katie regularly emphasized the difficulties of Harvey being situated far from her, and she acknowledged that he would sometimes get upset and express a desire to go back home.
In April, she shared about their challenging and distressing trip back to the college, as Harvey was deeply troubled by the prospect of returning, leading him to express his frustration in the car.
After relocating, she confessed on Snapchat that she was deeply saddened to witness her son’s distress. She expressed her desire to transfer him to a nearby branch of his school, which is close to her new residence in Sussex, following her departure from the Mucky Mansion.
She expressed: “That was quite challenging and left me feeling quite distressed. Harvey seemed unwilling to return to college. Frankly, I’m astonished that my vehicle is intact. It appeared as if he were about to make a move towards the car.

It’s quite disheartening when your child prefers to forgo college and spend more time with you instead.
I’m eagerly anticipating his return, as I long to be together with him again, but unfortunately, his room isn’t prepared just yet – perhaps by May. It’s truly disheartening.
Last July, it was disclosed that the local council reduced Harvey’s financial support as they perceived he had no health-related problems. The assessment indicated that his requirements were primarily social in nature.
Last year, when Katie faced bankruptcy due to an outstanding tax debt exceeding £750,000, she’s been striving to obtain financing to prolong Harvey’s stay at National Star for a further year.
Last year, I confessed on my podcast for The Katie Price Show that I’ve been going through a real tough time recently: “I’m having a living hell at the moment.
As a lifestyle advisor, I was hoping for my child to continue his education at college for another year or secure a placement, but unfortunately, the local authorities have not agreed to this arrangement yet.
I have been granted a three-month period ending in July to locate another place. Given Harvey’s situation, a gradual transition seems essential.
Katie served as Harvey’s main caretaker up until he reached the age of 19. In the year 2021, she documented Harvey’s transition to National Star College for a BBC documentary titled ‘Katie Price: Harvey and Me’.
In the year 2001, Katie had a brief romantic encounter with Dwight York, a previous football player. However, their relationship didn’t last long as they parted ways shortly after Katie became pregnant with Harvey, who is thus biologically his father.
The former Premier League player initially refused to acknowledge paternity, but a DNA test later confirmed it. However, Katie asserts that he seldom interacts with their son since his birth.
