Katie Price reveals both her mum and step-dad have been hospitalised as she gives health update
As someone who has been following Katie Price’s journey for quite some time now, my heart goes out to her and her family during these challenging times. The news about both her mum and step-dad being hospitalized is undoubtedly distressing, but it also serves as a stark reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing every moment we have with our loved ones.
On a health update about her parents, shared on Wednesday, Katie Price disclosed that both her mother and stepfather have been admitted to the hospital.
Previously known for her modeling career, a woman aged 46 shared that her mother, who received a diagnosis of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis in 2017, was recently hospitalized this month.
During a lively conversation on a TikTok livestream, Katie revealed that her father figure, Paul (who she affectionately refers to as dad), recently had a significant surgery.
‘My mum’s doing well – she was in hospital for 21 days,’ she explained.
“Recently, my father underwent a significant heart surgery… It’s crucial to take care of elderly family members, and right now, he needs extra attention due to everything happening behind the scenes.
Lately, Katie has shared with her followers that she’s letting go of an unkind behavior, as it’s become necessary given her mother’s persisting health issues.
Posting on Instagram the mother-of-five announced she is quitting vaping after a year of the habit.
She cited her mum Amy’s battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a terminal lung disease, as the reason behind her decision.
‘I have a big confession to make, and if there’s anyone out there who wants to join me, do it.
‘I’ve been vaping for a year, and it’s no good for you – especially when my mum has had a lung transplant. It’s disrespectful doing this in front of my mum,’ she told the camera.
“I’ve made up my mind; I’m getting rid of that harmful, addictive e-cigarette today. Starting from now, I’m quitting vaping.
‘I’ve got the strength to get rid of them. Join me. It’s going in the bin, that’s it. I’ve cleared all of my vapes out of the car and everything.’
A little over a year ago, Amy received a new lung through a transplant operation. Upon receiving her diagnosis, doctors informed Amy that she could potentially live for another five years.
In an interview with The Daily Star last November, she shared her health update, saying, “The progress is gradual and it’s been a longer journey than anticipated. There have been several hurdles along the way, as might be expected, but I am heading in the correct path.
As someone who’s had the experience of undergoing a lung transplant, I understand the temptation to just sit back due to occasional shortness of breath. However, I know that if I want to make progress and continue moving forward in my life, regular exercise is crucial. It’s all about finding the right balance between rest and activity for a healthier, more active lifestyle post-transplant.
‘I had a single lung transplant but it would cease up so I’ve got to exercise to get it working.’
Amy clarified that the illness takes away both breath and life, while Katie emphasized the necessity of spreading knowledge about this issue because alarming statistics indicate its increasing prevalence.
