Katie Price comes under fire after her £2000 bald cat ‘suffers with sunburn’ -sparking new animal cruelty row

It’s been criticized that Katie Price‘s Sphinx cat, which costs around £2000, experienced sunburn during the latest heatwave due to some reason or other.

Over the course of her life, the ex-fashion model (age 47), who’s had numerous pets, has faced criticism due to the unfortunate incidents where five dogs, a horse, and a chameleon passed away under her supervision.

Katie is once again drawing controversy over animal treatment as her hairless cat Kevin suffered from sunburn, despite her efforts to shield him from the sun.

In a video, it appears that Katie gently pets her cat named Kevin while commenting: “Kevin, it seems like you’ve spent some time in the sunlight today, even with the sunscreen we applied to you… Look how red your little face is”, as reported by The Mirror.

While she adored the bright-hued pet, she labeled her video: “Maintaining shade for the cats can be quite laborious.

The video led to an angry reaction from Elisa Allen, a representative of PETA, who criticized the celebrity for apparently disregarding advice on how to take care of their pets appropriately.

She shared with the press: ‘Admonishing Katie for causing harm to the animals she shelters is essentially speaking into the void, given her apparent disregard. Once more, it appears that her cat has sunburn – a situation probably discussed when obtaining a novelty cat, breed for its unusual appearance and lack of fur.’

When discussing sun safety for feline friends similar to Katie, PETA advises that cats with little or no fur are at a higher risk of sunburn. This is simply one argument in favor of keeping them safe indoors.

If your cats enter a secure garden, make sure to use veterinarian-recommended sunscreen on them and provide ample shade for their comfort. Always keep a watchful eye; if you notice any redness, swelling, or signs of infection, promptly consult with a vet.

TopMob have contacted representatives of Katie and Peta for comment.

This year, a petition demanding that Katie be prohibited from caring for animals gained over 37,000 signatures following the deaths of seven pets while in her care.

She blames these misfortunes on ‘poor timing,’ as the majority happened when she was not at home. To prevent similar incidents with her pets, she’s now taken steps to fortify the garden of her latest residence.

In February, she responded to critics by telling The Sun: “It was not within my control when people say I should not have pets. The circumstances played a role.

I’m not neglecting them by any means. In fact, I have a deep affection for animals, and I truly enjoy caring for them.

In the previous year, renowned animal rights organization PETA wrote an open missive to celebrity Katie, following allegations that she had relinquished her dog Tank because of a waning enthusiasm.

The charity also offered her £5,000 if she signs a contract to not acquire another animal.

In a letter made public by The Sun, PETA Vice President Elisa Allen expressed her concern about the increasing number of animals who have perished or been relinquished under your care. It’s a point that people find hard to overlook, and their worries are valid.

Regardless of your explanations for their hardships, losses, or extinction, it’s undeniable that you continue to cause harm to these delicate, conscious beings. I trust we can both see that this approach isn’t beneficial.

PETA added: ‘things have gone horribly wrong with many of the animals under her supervision’.

Responding to the open letter, a spokesperson for Katie stated to TopMob that “Katie has repeatedly requested a private dialogue with PETA, yet they persist in publicizing this story through the media.

‘If they want to have a direct conversation with Kate they can get in touch.’

Isn’t it more appropriate for their charitable resources to support animal causes instead of distributing them among celebrities? Or, is it the case that they have sufficient funds to assist both celebrities and animals?

Previously, the celebrity has had to confront the loss of her five pets (dogs), a horse, and also her pet chameleon named Marvin.

In November the previous year, Katie adopted a black Labrador pup from a neighbor instead of getting another kitten in January. This addition brought her pet count up to eight and her dog family to seven.

In my world, I’m blessed with a vibrant canine crew that includes four charming Chihuahuas: Captain, Buddy, Colin, and the daring Batman. Alongside them, I have Precious, a French Bulldog who adds a touch of elegance, and Tank, a German Shepherd who brings strength and loyalty to our pack. To complete the family, there’s also my playful Labrador puppy.

In June 2023, Katie lost her cherished dog, Blade, only seven months following the tragic accident that claimed the life of her other dog, Sharon, on the same road.

Sharon met a tragic end after it’s said that she fled and stepped onto the road, getting struck by a vehicle. The driver found her unconscious on the A24 and transported her to Arun Vets in Pulborough, West Sussex. Unfortunately, her passing was verified there.

In 2020, tragically, Katie lost two of her beloved dogs: Rolo at home due to suffocation, and Sparkle in February under a mower’s blade. These losses eerily mirrored the death of her dog Queenie, who was taken away in 2018.

In July of 2020, Katie faced criticism from animal welfare advocates following the incident where her French bulldog, Rolo, suffocated. Tragically, Rolo died after becoming trapped in an electric armchair while Katie was busy packing some belongings in another room. This unfortunate event was reported by The Mirror.

Rolo was given to her daughter Princess as a birthday present.

Later on, Katie disclosed her astonishment upon learning that she had been unlawfully instructed to administer cannabis oil to her deceased dog, Rolo, who tragically passed away apparently suffocating in an armchair.

One of Katie’s horses was tragically hit by a car and killed in 2017 after escaping from a field.

And in 2018 her dog Queenie was struck and killed by a delivery driver.
