Katie Price has adopted a new dog, even though animal welfare organizations have asked for her to be prohibited from owning pets due to a history of unfortunate incidents involving animals.
On Monday, the 47-year-old former model shared a video on Snapchat of her cute dog, explaining that it stays by her side constantly.
She has been condemned by animal charities over the years for owning pets after a series of deaths.
It was really heartbreaking last month when we lost one of Doris’s kittens. Poor little thing just couldn’t get a good latch and nurse properly. Sadly, this brings the total number of animals I’ve lost while caring for them to eight, and it’s always incredibly difficult.
In a recent Snapchat video, she first complained about being tired, saying she ‘needed this filter today,’ before acknowledging the dog in the background.
However in another slide she explained: ‘And this little one just does not leave my side.
‘I can’t wait for him to meet Rookie, he’s met all of the other animals.
‘This is Rookie’s new little friend for when we go horse riding, walks, everything.’
A representative for Katie has been contacted by Daily Mail for comment.
She then posted the caption: ‘First time using a filter in ages.’
Katie adopted a Cocker Spaniel named Rookie in February, and many people questioned whether she was adding another pet to her family.
Last October, Katie took in Doris and two other hairless cats, even though animal charities had asked authorities to prevent her from owning any pets.
She responded to criticism about her pet ownership, particularly after animal rights group PETA offered her £5,000 to give up her animals.
Katie recently introduced her family to her new dog, Rookie, and has always loved animals – she’s had many pets throughout her life.
People are questioning her animal care after several animals – including five dogs, a horse, and a chameleon – died while she was looking after them. Many of these deaths happened in traffic accidents close to her previous home in Sussex.
It just breaks my heart! Katie keeps saying it’s just bad luck, and honestly, most of the awful things happened when she wasn’t even *here* to protect them. Now, she’s totally focused on making sure her new place is completely safe for her babies – she’s really secured the garden, and it’s such a relief to know they’re finally protected. I’m so glad she’s prioritizing their safety, she deserves all the good things after everything she’s been through!
Katie has responded to criticism about her pet ownership by explaining that the reasons she acquired the animals were beyond her control.
It’s not that I don’t care for them – I really do. I have a deep love for animals and enjoy taking care of them.
In February 2024, PETA sent an open letter to Katie after news circulated that she had rehomed her puppy, Tank, because she was no longer interested in caring for him.
They offered her £5,000 if she signs a contract to not acquire another animal.
Katie recently adopted a new pet, following criticism from her fans last week regarding her latest single. Many found the song overly reliant on auto-tune and the lyrics hard to follow.
The star has reignited her pop career with the release her latest single Best Of Me on Friday.
The song, which also includes rapper Lady Ice, has gotten a varied response from listeners, with some suggesting it sounds like it was made by artificial intelligence.
Taking to TikTok, fans wrote: ‘Haven’t worked out what she’s actually saying in this.’
It’s hard to clearly hear her singing, and honestly, a lot of songs these days rely on effects to sound good.
I can’t follow what she’s trying to communicate. It doesn’t sound like actual singing – it’s all effects and studio manipulation.
‘My ears hurt real bad’… ‘AI is amazing’… ‘Career ending move right there.’
Despite the overall situation, some of Katie’s fans did enjoy the song and gave it positive feedback.
People were really enjoying the song, with comments like ‘So catchy!’ and praise for the artist, Katie P, calling her ‘awesome’ and saying she ‘deserves this moment’.
Someone praised Katie’s performance, saying it sounded good despite needing some help. Others encouraged everyone to relax, pointing out she’s just enjoying herself and isn’t trying to be a professional singer.
In early September, Katie announced she was working on a new song and posted a photo from the recording studio.
The model, previously known for appearing on Page 3, is attempting a musical return. Her 2017 song, ‘I Got U,’ surprisingly reached the top spot on the iTunes chart and also landed at number three on the Big Top 40.
Her popular 2019 dance track, “Hurricane,” climbed to number six on the iTunes chart, and she happily shared the achievement with her fans.
