Katie Price brought her mother and many of her fans to tears of happiness when she gave her a special Christmas gift designed to give her more freedom and independence.
Katie Price, 47, posted a new video on her YouTube channel this Tuesday showing how she spent Christmas with her family on the Isle of Wight. She was visiting her mother, Amy, who is 73 years old.
She cautioned viewers that the video might be emotional, potentially requiring tissues, as it showed her giving her mother a deeply meaningful gift. The gesture deeply moved her mother, especially considering her ongoing health struggles.
Katie, along with her children – Princess, 18, Junior, 20, and Harvey, 23 – and her boyfriend JJ Slater, gifted Amy a motorised scooter, hoping it would help her regain independence and enjoy life more.
In 2017, Amy received a diagnosis of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, or IPF. This serious lung disease causes scarring and thickening, making it harder and harder to breathe, and unfortunately, there is currently no cure.
As a lifestyle expert, I often work with people navigating health challenges, and I recently met someone who had a lung transplant in 2022. While the surgery was successful, she still finds getting around tough. Even short walks can leave her breathless, and honestly, it makes her feel quite trapped and limited in her day-to-day life. It’s a reminder that recovery isn’t always linear, and adapting to new limitations is a big part of the journey.

Katie happily showed off her new mobility scooter, which she was using instead of her wheelchair and walking frame. She exclaimed, ‘You’ve got this now, whether you like it or not! It’s a new beginning for me!’
In the video, the reality star teaches her mother how to ride a scooter, explaining how to accelerate, brake, and change speeds.
When asked if she liked the gift, Amy excitedly replied, ‘Yes, of course!’ She quickly became overcome with emotion and began to cry, prompting her grandchildren, Junior and Princess, to run over and hug her.
After trying the scooter, she happily exclaimed she was going to enjoy it, saying it felt like the start of something new. Overcome with emotion, she paused, and Katie finished the thought, explaining it offered a sense of freedom and a fresh start.
Amy exclaimed how unbelievable the situation was, adding that she was excited about the possibilities it opened up. She felt it would restore her independence, which is exactly what she needed.
I’m so relieved to have this help, especially when my husband, Paul, is away. It’s been a real struggle going between having support and then not. Honestly, it’s all a bit overwhelming right now!
Katie shared how happy she was with her mum’s reaction, saying everyone had a wonderful Christmas – the children, JJ, and especially her mother, who deserved it most.
She feels completely revitalized and is experiencing joyful tears. I’m so glad she’s regaining her independence and can now pursue her own interests.

Earlier this year, Katie shared how upsetting Amy’s health issues have been, noting that while Amy remains mentally sharp, she’s no longer able to do the activities she once enjoyed.
Katie Price shared on Amy’s podcast, The Katie Price Show, that her mother is experiencing both good and bad days.
It really breaks my heart to see my mum struggling. It’s so hard to explain, but her mind is still incredibly sharp and active, yet her body just won’t cooperate. She gets so frustrated because she can’t do the things she used to enjoy, and I just want everyone to understand how difficult this is for her.
I’m usually patient, but my mother sometimes gets to me. She’ll jokingly ask if she should use her walker or wheelchair to go shopping on the Isle of Wight, and I always respond that she’s using the wheelchair – I don’t have time for her to move slowly!
Amy responded: ‘It’s not doing me any good because I’m meant to walk to help myself.’
Amy wasn’t the only one touched by the thoughtful gift. Many viewers shared comments praising Katie and admitted the heartwarming scene had also brought them to tears.
They wrote about being moved to tears by the happiness of the person’s mother, describing a video as incredibly special. The mother’s tears and smile perfectly captured the joyful moment, and it was heartwarming to see everyone together and smiling.
Everyone is touched by the thoughtful gift you gave your mother! It’s clear she’ll really enjoy her newfound freedom, and people are expressing how kind and wonderful the gesture was. It’s brought tears to some eyes!

This was incredibly moving and brought tears to my eyes – you can really feel the love Kate has for her mother. Seeing her mum’s reaction is beautiful; she’s clearly overjoyed. What a wonderful and thoughtful gift! Congratulations to everyone involved.
That was such a sweet reaction to the gift! It’s clear you’re a very kind and thoughtful person. And you’re a wonderful daughter – that scooter is going to be a huge help to your mom.
Seeing your mum cry with joy over her newfound independence really touched me, because I understand exactly how she feels. It was such a lovely and thoughtful gift to give her – a gift of independence!
Katie has a really kind and caring side to her. Getting my scooter completely changed things for me, and for my daughter and grandkids too. Your mother doesn’t realize how much her life is going to improve.
Amy received an IPF diagnosis in 2017, and doctors initially estimated she had up to five years to live. By 2022, when a suitable lung donor was found, her condition had worsened to the point where her family believed she only had two weeks left.
Amy shared a health update last November with the Daily Star, explaining her recovery was gradual and had faced some challenges, but she was making progress and heading in the right direction.
After a lung transplant, it’s tempting to rest because you can still feel short of breath. But I know I need to keep exercising to improve and stay healthy.
‘I had a single lung transplant but it would cease up so I’ve got to exercise to get it working.’

She described the disease as stealing people’s ability to breathe and ultimately, their lives. Katie emphasized the need for greater awareness, pointing to troubling data that shows cases are increasing.
After learning about Amy’s health problems, Katie decided to stop vaping. She realized it wasn’t good for her health and felt it would be disrespectful to her mother to continue.
She’s tried to quit before, and once said vaping might have been responsible for losing a tooth.
She explained that she’s been vaping for a year and doesn’t think it’s healthy, particularly because her mother recently had a lung transplant. She feels it’s disrespectful to vape around her mother.
Today, I’m quitting vaping for good. I’m getting rid of vapes – no more of that harmful, addictive habit.
I’m determined to stop using vapes, and I’m getting rid of all of them. I’d love for you to join me! I’ve already removed all my vapes from the car, so I’m committed to this.
Even though she was seen vaping on a train last year and while performing live with Kerry Katona, Katie has apparently found it difficult to stop vaping.
According to a source speaking to The Mirror, Katie needs to prioritize her health and take a break, as her family is very concerned about her wellbeing.

She’s really under a lot of pressure, and vaping has become how she copes with it. It’s also highly addictive, and Katie is someone who tends to become easily addicted to things.
Katie’s boyfriend, JJ Slater from Married At First Sight, is reportedly worried about the situation but feels unable to help much, as she’s independent and makes her own decisions.
But earlier this month, Katie emphasized she needs to quit vaping, especially after a recent health issue revealed a clinical connection between vaping and permanent lung damage.
She shared that she’d talked to her mother, Amy, and Paul about her vaping habit, explaining that she’s decided to quit as her New Year’s resolution. She was relieved to have recently had her lungs checked and found they were healthy.
Although a vape was visible in her Christmas video, she explained she’d promised her mother she’d stop vaping after New Year’s Day, saying, “I have 48 hours left!”
