Katie Price Admits She Needs Help for Severe ADHD
Katie Price has disclosed that she now requires a suitable companion to manage formal documentation, following her diagnosis with severe Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
Previously renowned for her modeling career, a woman aged 46, shared insights from her recent diagnosis during an episode of the We Need To Talk podcast, hosted by Paul C Brunson.
She disclosed that her mother, Amy, had expressed worries about her unusual actions and suggested she undergo testing for the related condition.
After learning that she had a severe form of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Katie was informed that she should always have a suitable adult companion when dealing with legal documents, especially during her ongoing bankruptcy proceedings.
She mentioned that when dealing with court matters, it’s necessary for her to be accompanied by a suitable adult, as she finds it difficult to focus without one.
People might ask, ‘What’s that?’ To which I’ll respond later. I can certainly read, but after going through everything, I often lose interest or get distracted with other thoughts, finding it challenging to concentrate on forms.

18 months after receiving her diagnosis, she shared that she found it difficult to comprehend the medical correspondence at the time due to her state of distress. Consequently, she chose not to delve into them fully, preferring to set them aside for later when she felt more equipped to understand their contents.
You seemed to say something like, “I’ll deal with it tomorrow, postpone it, keep delaying it,” and this approach led to the situation where bankruptcy became an issue because I found it difficult to grasp what was happening.
In response to her mother’s worries, she acknowledged, “Mum often tells me that I tend to be restless, even when I’m seated. She thinks I’m somewhat unpredictable and act on impulse.
In response, I told her, “Mum, I’m just being myself,” to which she replied, “It seems there might be an issue with your thinking process.
In another part of the conversation, Katie shared details about her devastating suicide attempt, which resulted in a bruise around her eye. She also spoke candidly about checking into the Priory soon after realizing that she was turning to drugs and alcohol as a means to cope with her struggles.
To start off, the TV figure declared, “I attempted to take my own life, only to find myself awake again. My phone was submerged in the toilet. I had a shiner, and honestly, I just didn’t feel like being around any longer.
As a lifestyle enthusiast reflecting on personal experiences, one of my darkest moments occurred approximately four years back. In an attempt to numb the pain, I found myself turning to cocaine as a form of self-medication – a decision that unfortunately served to obliterate everything around me for a time.
Instead of experiencing the usual intense euphoria that many people feel when they use cocaine, it actually suppressed Katie’s functions. This reaction is common among individuals with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and it was following her stay at the Priory that she received a formal diagnosis.

She went on to say: ‘What troubled me was the lie I told my family. They’d ask, “Kate, are you okay?” and I’d reply “Yes, yes, I’m fine,” but in reality, I was lying there in bed, feeling down, not wanting to get up or take a shower. It wasn’t like me.’
When I woke up to head to work, others would often ask, “Are you okay?” However, there were moments when I felt like I just wanted to break down and say, “No, I’m really not,” yet I had to wear a mask instead.
In September 2021, Katie got pulled over for driving under the influence and causing an accident involving her uninsured BMW X5, which rolled onto its side along a rural road not far from her residence in West Sussex.
She openly confessed to operating a vehicle under the influence, driving while banned, and driving without valid insurance coverage at the court hearing. After her arrest, she promptly sought treatment at The Priory.
Katie was handed a 16-week suspended sentence and two-year ban at Crawley Magistrates’ Court.
Speaking about her time at The Priory, she shared: “I realized, oh dear, I need to act, as this is not who I truly am.
I never pass judgment on others when they discuss mental health issues because I view them as genuine and crucial matters. Regardless of your surroundings, remember that taking care of yourself is always important, regardless of what others may or may not advise.

Katie went on saying: “It’s crucial to take charge, and if you don’t find the motivation within yourself, improvement won’t happen. To grow, you must embrace the responsibility for your circumstances and acknowledge your feelings.
It’s important for you to acknowledge and accept responsibility for the harm you’ve caused to those close to you, including your family. Recognize that moving past this pain can lead to new opportunities.
‘It’s like the sunshine. Look what opportunities you’ve got now. Why? Because your head’s better.
I make my own decisions and take charge of my actions. Nobody pulls the strings for me. I am aware of my current situation, and I’ve been communicating effectively.
