On Friday night, Katie Piper posted an update about her health on her Instagram, informing her followers that she had recently undergone surgery to safeguard her left eye.

41-year-old celebrity from Loose Women shared with her fans that she plans to experiment with an artificial eye shell, after battling various health issues for several years.

On her social media platforms, she announced: ‘After a long struggle with eye health issues, I’ve come to a point where change is necessary, so I’ll be trying an artificial eye shell.’

Begins my adventure towards obtaining an artificial eye, guided by an extraordinary medical team. Once again, I am deeply appreciative of everyone in the National Health Service and private healthcare systems for their skill and compassion.

I plan to reveal my experience. I’m both optimistic and anxious about how I’ll handle it, but I’d be grateful for any insights or tips from those who may have gone through the same journey or can offer guidance…

Katie included a picture and video clip from the hospital while undergoing her procedure, which she labeled with a title. The material contained the surgeon putting in the artificial eye, as shown in the video footage.

In March 2008, Katie was only 24 years old when her former partner, Daniel Lynch, who was 47 at the time, orchestrated a brutal attack that resulted in severe burns to Katie’s face, necessitating approximately 400 surgical procedures.

She’s made significant progress from her past ordeal and courageously restructured her life – today, an advocate for fellow survivors, she has received the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in recognition of her charitable and burn care services.

However, the individual responsible for the attack, Stefan Sylvestre – instructed to commit the act by Daniel – remains at large, having left the country upon his prison release.

In 2009, I was sentenced to serve life in prison for orchestrating an act that was nothing short of pure, cold-blooded, and premeditated wickedness.

At London’s Wood Green Crown Court, he was given a lifetime sentence upon being convicted of rape, grievous bodily harm (GBH), and also acknowledging the charge of causing actual bodily harm (ABH).

Toward the close of 2023, Katie provided a health report to her anxious supporters following a surgical procedure aimed at preserving her left eye.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, the television host shared her struggles, explaining that she had to return to the eye clinic because she’s been experiencing issues with her eye.

She added: ‘I’ve got a defect and an infection that is becoming really hard to treat.’ 

At approximately the same period, Katie shared openly with her followers that enduring additional surgeries and carrying on with life despite the injuries from the 2008 acid attack had taken a toll on her mentally.

15 years past, I endured severe injuries, including blindness in one eye, following an acid attack orchestrated by my former partner and a confederate. I am the one who experienced this harrowing event.
