Katie Holmes ‘will visit Suri’ at Carnegie Mellon University for family weekend… but not dad Tom Cruise who is paying the tuition
As a seasoned observer of Hollywood’s dynamic landscape, I must say that Suri Cruise seems to be following in her parents’ footsteps, albeit at a slightly later age. Her journey into the world of acting and dance at Carnegie Mellon University echoes the stories of her parents who were already established actors by their early 20s.

The Hollywood movie star is heading to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to visit her daughter Suri Cruise while at Carnegie Mellon University, a private university, a source tells DailyMail.com
That’s the reason as those dates, September 27 and 28, are designated as Family Weekend. It’s during this period that Katie is granted permission to see her sole child.
Despite the fact that, according to DailyMail.com’s recent report, Tom is responsible for covering Suri’s educational expenses as part of their divorce agreement, Tom will not be attending, as he is estranged from Suri.
According to the source, Katie eagerly anticipates visiting her kid at school, as she’s delighted for her child and wants to share in this moment. It’s also noted that Katie herself had a great time at Columbia University and is overjoyed that her daughter will be following in her footsteps by attending college.
Before Family Weekend, Suri will have a three day weekend with Labor Day.
The 18-year-old student moved into the dorms a week ago with the help of Holmes. Classes begin on August 26, according to the school’s website.
Cruise is forking over the money to put her through college.
It was determined back in 2012, following his divorce from Katie after six years of marriage, that he would be responsible for all her educational expenses.
According to the divorce papers, Tom is responsible for covering Suri’s various expenses, such as medical care, dental treatment, insurance premiums, educational costs (including college), and additional costs related to extracurricular activities.
A friend of Tom’s shared with DailyMail.com that Tom has consistently covered Suri’s educational expenses, including the $65K annual tuition at CMU, and he has no intention of stopping since he’s a responsible individual.

Instead, it’s highly unlikely that he continues to pay Katie $38,000 annually for child support since their daughter, Suri, who turned 18, is now considered an adult according to the law.
It seems unusual to consider that Tom has been supporting Suri financially, given it’s been more than ten years since their last known public appearance together.
Their last snapshot together in public was in April 2013.
Indicating a possible strain in their relationship, Suri opted to take on the name ‘Noelle’, which happens to be Katie’s middle name, instead of keeping her father’s last name, Cruise.
Currently, it’s been shared by DailyMail.com that Suri is eager for her college life and is residing in a shared dorm room with another female student within a female-only dormitory.
According to an inside source, Suri has decided to dive into the complete college experience by moving into a dormitory and sharing a room with someone else. This change brings about great excitement as she embarks on a fresh stage in her life.
Rather than living in Mom Home’s spacious, three-bedroom luxury high-rise apartment in New York City, the teenager will instead occupy a minimalist dorm room.
She is believed to be house in Scobell House which has a maximum of 88 students and is all female.
One notable feature of Carnegie Mellon is its campus, which boasts numerous eateries providing a variety of options such as cappuccinos, croissants, pasta, and smoothies. Furthermore, it hosts a cutting-edge fitness center for students’ well-being.
The rooms can be for one person, two or three, depending on need and price.
One of the rooms features two sets of bunk beds, allowing for accommodation of up to four students comfortably.
The majority of dorm rooms provide furnishings, including a single bed that includes space below for storage, a five-tier chest of drawers, a desk with three drawers, and a seating area with a chair.
The complex offers a variety of convenient spaces such as a television room, a quiet study area, a recreation zone, laundromat services, and a fully-equipped kitchen for your use.
Scobell belongs to the WHeSco community, comprising the houses Henderson and Welch. The WHeSco community is conveniently located near numerous academic buildings and dining facilities in Resnik. Each building offers a central area on the ground floor for students, providing access to lounges, laundry rooms, and kitchens, as mentioned on the website.
There is plenty of food to purchase on campus so Suri won’t go hungry as she crams for finals.
At the Cohon Center, you’ll find eateries similar to Au Bon Pain café bakery, where Cruise can grab some delicious chocolate croissants and sodas.
Additionally, you’ll find the Ciao Bella restaurant, offering delightful pasta options such as Fettucine Alfredo. It can be found within the Cohon Center.
At Resnik House, you’ll find The Edge Cafe and Market – a place where Suri can easily grab bagels with cream cheese, along with delicious pizzas!
It seems Katie suggests that Suri could be pursuing a career in acting and dance at Carnegie Mellon, while Holmes mentioned to Town & Country magazine that her daughter has expressed an interest in joining the entertainment industry upon completing her education.
Both Katie and Suri’s father Tom have been in the industry since their early 20s.
According to the publication, it’s not surprising that Suri has shown an interest in fashion or acting, given her previous role in the high school play of The Addams Family.
And Katie has already put Suri to work on two of her films.
In two of Holmes’ movies, namely the 2023 drama “Rare Objects” and the 2022 romantic drama “Alone Together”, Suri provided vocals for the songs.
‘I’m proud of my daughter,’ Holmes told Town & Country of her daughter.
‘Of course, I will miss the close proximity, but I’m really proud of her and I’m happy.’
In an interview with Glamour in April 2023, Holmes mentioned that she’s been motivating Suri to participate in her projects.
‘I hope she always does something on my films,’ Holmes said. ‘I always ask her.’
