Katie Holmes looks glum on set with Joshua Jackson after he sparked romance rumors with Bridgerton star

She was unable to contain her smile as she worked with Joshua Jackson last week.

But Katie Holmes was looking glum as she returned to the set of Happy Hours on Monday.  

In simpler terms, the actress from Dawson’s Creek, aged 46, wasn’t quite living up to the title of her movie while conversing with Joshua on set, which took place outside the Dear Strangers eatery in Greenwich Village.

Filming’s last day occurred several days following the stir created by Joshua and Simone Ashley, who are Bridgerton actors, about their rumored romantic involvement.

It seemed as though nothing could break Katie’s concentration as she brought her vision to life.  

47-year-old Katie found herself deeply engrossed in the role of a film director while conversing with her past acting partner, occasionally using hand movements to emphasize her points.

Joshua listened on intently, his hand rubbing his chin with a studious flourish.

Katie sported a casual, unkempt bun, donning a vibrant red collared shirt layered under a graphic tee, both neatly secured with a belt on a pair of denim jeans.

Joshua opted for a graphic T-shirt, jeans, and leather footwear with a handy watch on his wrist.

Katie was able to lighten up at one point, as she cracked a smile while enjoying a Diet Coke break.

In this specific project, Katie undeniably carries a significant load as both the director, writer, and a leading actor, making her responsibilities quite extensive.

It’s worth mentioning that Katie and Joshua have previously collaborated on a project. They were prominent actors in the popular high school television show Dawson’s Creek, which ran from 1998 to 2002.

The pair even dated in real life, from 1998 to 1999.   

Last week, I found myself beaming ear-to-ear while collaborating with Joshua on the film set – an enthusiasm not lost on numerous online spectators.

In simpler terms, the googly eyes weren’t used for a film sequence; instead, Holmes was found to be animated even when the cameras weren’t rolling, and these animated moments were captured on a bustling city sidewalk.

A noticeable sense of camaraderie filled the air, as they exchanged jokes and conversed comfortably with the team, their interactions brimming with warmth.

One spectator remarked about Katie’s joyful demeanor towards Joshua, “It seems as though she’s still deeply fond of him.” (Katie has a 19-year-old daughter named Suri Cruise with her former husband Tom Cruise.)

Another joined in: ‘It’s clear she has feelings for that guy, it’s hard not to feel the same way given how charming he is!’ Alternatively, ‘She’s head over heels for Pacey, and I can understand why.’

‘It’s urgent for this man to propose: Katie is the best catch of this century, you won’t find anyone better.’

But Joshua has since sparked romance rumors with someone else. 

The actor was spotted getting cozy with the actress Simone Ashley over the weekend.

On Saturday in New York City, the actor from The Affair was spotted walking alongside a 30-year-old actress from Bridgerton.

Two years post his divorce from Jodie Turner-Smith, Jackson and Ashley spent some quality time together, with the shared custody of their five-year-old daughter Juno.

More recently, Ashley announced her breakup with Constantin Klein, a fact she shared back in February of this year, marking almost three years since they were together.
