As a dedicated follower of these esteemed individuals, I find it deeply moving to witness their heartfelt reflections on the 23rd anniversary of the September 11 attacks. These moments serve as reminders not only of the unspeakable tragedy that shook our nation but also of the unwavering resilience and unity we exhibited in the face of adversity.

On the 23rd anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, Katie Couric was one of the early notable figures who paid tribute.

I, a seasoned journalist turning 67 this year and recently embracing the role of grandma, posted a video on Instagram featuring our old 9/11 news coverage with the now disgraced Matt Lauer as my former co-anchor.

Addressing her almost two million followers, she posted a thoughtful message saying, ‘On that day when the sky was a vibrant shade of blue, a day that brought tragedy as 2,977 lives were lost. A day that shattered dreams. A day when medical professionals stood ready in hospitals throughout the city, yet no one sought their help.’

The note went on to say: ‘That fateful day left New Yorkers stunned and the entire world in disbelief. It was the beginning of a terrible nightmare for countless families. A day when our nation stood united against unimaginable wickedness. A day that I shall never forget.’

Kelly Ripa and Mark Wahlberg took to their Instagram accounts to commemorate a sad day in our past.

As a devoted follower, I, at the age of 53, shared an evening image on Instagram Stories, showcasing a beam of light illuminating the NYC skyline – once home to the Twin Towers. Accompanying this picture, I penned down ‘#neverforget.’

And Mark, also 53, uploaded an image of the 9/11 memorial and wrote, ‘We will never forget.’

68-year-old Kris Jenner marked the occasion on social media by sharing a tribute video posted by Instagram account The NYC Walking Show, emphasizing its significance as the mother of six.

Beneath the video, she penned a note saying, ‘We pay tribute today to those who perished 23 years back and recall the brave souls who acted on that fateful day.’

The influential figure in entertainment went on to say, ‘We’ll always remember, and our sympathies are extended to the families whose lives have been irrevocably altered.’

Journalist Maria Shriver also joined the Hollywood camp of those remembering the tragedy.

Back in 2001, a well-known figure from the media world shared an old news report she did, where she detailed tragic events that unfolded on NBC in Los Angeles.

In her post this year, she wrote a similar caption as last time: ‘I often reflect on this interview with Deena Burnett (now Bailey) and her family about the brave actions of her husband, Tom Burnett, who was among those attempting to thwart the terrorists on United Flight 93.’

She mentioned that in 2016, during an interview with Deena for @thesundaypaper, she shared this thought: “It’s important to recall, but it’s more significant to respect. Respect is earned through living a life deserving of the sacrifice.” Let’s keep this guidance close as we pay tribute today and every day to those we have lost.

Today, I find myself deeply moved as we remember one of the saddest, most agonizing chapters in our country’s story. This pain is particularly acute for all the families who have tragically lost their beloved ones. They’ve been forced to endure a life without them.

Let’s keep these people in our thoughts today. Let’s create a supportive environment for them. Let’s show extra kindness to everyone we encounter, remembering that each person has unique experiences that may be affecting their day.

She carefully packaged the message that read, ‘Let’s always remain grateful towards first responders. These brave individuals raced in to rescue fellow citizens without hesitation, regardless of who they were. Their actions were driven purely by care and compassion. They risked their lives for us. A heartfelt thank you to them and their families. #911neverforget.’
