Kathy Griffin – who is worth $50M – says using a private jet is LOSING her money as she attempts another comeback
As a fervent admirer of Kathy Griffin, I find her resilience and unwavering spirit truly inspiring. Her life story is a testament to the power of free speech and the ability to bounce back from adversity. From her humble beginnings to her meteoric rise in comedy, she has always been unafraid to speak her mind, even when it’s not popular.
Kathy Griffin humorously mentioned that her heavy travel costs during her comedy tour titled “My Life on the PTSD-List” are causing a financial drain for her.
During a flight lasting an hour between Los Angeles and San Jose, the 63-year-old comedian confessed to The Hollywood Reporter that choosing to travel privately was a financially imprudent move.
She playfully remarked, “It seems I’m hemorrhaging funds on this trip due to the jet.” But it’s luxurious, and I can’t complain. It lets me spend nights with my dearest ones and steer clear of airports, where some Trump supporters persistently feel compelled to approach me and express their disapproval.
It’s not surprising that the celebrity, known for her wealth estimated at $50 million, often chooses to travel by privately hired planes instead of enduring lengthy queues and sharing space with fellow passengers.
In a description penned by Mikey O’Connell after interviewing the actress, it was noted that Griffin appeared to be in a ‘half-meditative trance’, with her eyes shut and petting her Chihuahua blend, as she journeyed towards Northern California.
Additionally, he observed that she wore earphones and seemed immersed in hour 23 of Barbara Streisand’s 48-hour long audiobook biography.
In the year 2017, for a span of two months, this celebrity was included in the No-Fly List following a federal probe by the Department of Justice due to an inflammatory image she shared on social media depicting herself with a fake, bloodied replica of then-President Trump’s head.
Previously, she insisted that sharing the infamous image left her ‘unemployable and uninsurable.’
2019 saw her disclose that she had encountered multiple threats and an encounter with a man brandishing a knife following her 2017 stunt, making her an outcast in Hollywood.
Initially, I offered an apology for my actions, but after careful consideration, I’ve retracted that apology and firmly uphold the validity of the photograph, asserting it as a representation of my right to free expression.
‘You can be as offended by that photo all you want, that doesn’t bother me at all,’ she said.
To make it clear, I didn’t violate any laws. Snapping photos without breaching any rules is also allowed.
‘I didn’t infringe upon the rights protected by the First Amendment. Just as you wouldn’t be doing if you took a similar picture.’
Following an unexpected series of events, I found myself investing in metal detectors for my own safety. An incident occurred in Houston where a man approached me brandishing a knife, a chilling reminder of the unpredictability that can lurk around corners.
The Emmy winner asserted that federal officials had been examining if she posed a genuine danger based on certain allegations.
She then said that she was put under federal investigation, and even put on the no-fly list while also being ‘interrogated under oath… which has never happened in the history of this country.’
She stated that the President and the Department of Justice should not make it difficult for someone to find employment or insurance.
She jokingly mentioned that she’s still in the lower tier,” she said, alluding to the Bravo reality show which granted her two Emmy Awards.
In May 2017, a controversy broke out when Griffin was pictured wearing a bloodied mask in a photo session with photographer Tyler Shields.
Griffin labeled it with an allusion to ‘bleeding from every orifice’, a witty spin on Trump’s contentious remarks regarding journalist Megyn Kelly.
But the photo was widely understood as a joke about the President’s violent death.
From all corners of the political arena, she encountered criticism, even from the President who asserted that Griffin should feel embarrassed about her actions.
Trump called the stunt ‘sick’, adding that his young son Barron was ‘having a hard time with this’.
In simpler terms, Chelsea Clinton, who is the child of Bill and Hillary Clinton, described such actions as disgusting and inappropriate, stating that making jokes about assassinating a president is never amusing.
Griffin was removed from CNN’s New Year’s Eve broadcast, and his co-host, Anderson, stated that the photograph in question was ‘undoubtedly offensive and entirely unacceptable.’
For a decade, she served as a co-host on CNN’s New Year’s Eve live broadcast. However, following the controversy caused by the photograph, her employment was terminated.
In December 2023, it was revealed that she and her husband, Randy Bick, had decided to part ways after being married for four years.
