As a film enthusiast with a keen interest in Hollywood marriages and divorces, I’ve seen my fair share of complicated splits between celebrities. However, the latest development in Kathy Griffin and Randy Bick‘s divorce case piqued my curiosity more than most.
According to the terms of their divorce settlement, Randy Bick is permitted to return to the house he once shared with Kathy Griffin, but only in the presence of a chaperone to collect his remaining belongings.
The attorneys for both parties submitted an agreement in L.A. Superior Court on Tuesday, following a turbulent six-month span filled with conflicting claims. During this time, there were reports of Griffin forcing Bick out of their shared residence, subsequently employing a private investigator to serve him divorce papers, and Bick alleging that Griffin refused to let him retrieve his belongings from their Los Angeles home.
Things seem to have calmed down somewhat.
Based on court records obtained by The Times, Griffin has reached an agreement to pay Bick $75,000 in a single payment. The details of their prenuptial agreement are unclear from Griffin’s December divorce petition. However, Bick’s lawyer will draft a settlement in the upcoming weeks that is expected to resolve all outstanding issues in the case, including spousal support.
As a film enthusiast, I’d rephrase that as follows: According to the court records, I, Griffin, had given my estranged husband a catalog and pictures of his possessions that were still in our shared home during our marriage. With an escort, he will be granted access to retrieve them.
In December, right before their fourth marriage anniversary, Griffin initiated divorce proceedings against Bick. She attributed the breakup to insurmountable disagreements and indicated their separation occurred on the 22nd of that month.
People have reported that Bick has a lengthy background in entertainment marketing. Based on his LinkedIn profile, he previously held the position of Head of Production at Inappropriate Laughter Inc., up until December.
According to court records, Griffin paid Bick $75,000 which included reimbursement for his living costs during the 3-month period after their split, and this payment would additionally cover some of Bick’s legal fees.
Griffin had been married to Matt Moline before she wed Bick. Their union lasted from 2001 to 2006, but it ended when Griffin claimed Moline had misappropriated her funds.
In the year 2011, Griffin and Bick began their romantic relationship following their encounter at a food and wine event. However, they went through a short separation in the year 2018. Yet, they reconciled and rekindled their love just a few months afterward.
