Kathy Bates Stuns at SAG Awards with 100-Pound Weight Loss Transformation

At the 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards held on a Sunday, Kathy Bates captured attention with her striking new, slim physique, carrying it off with an air of self-assuredness.

76-year-old actress from Matlock, who shared that she lost 100 pounds with the help of Ozempic, looked stunning on the glamorous red carpet in a sleek black jacket embellished with sparkling accents and coordinated flawlessly with tailored black trousers.

Opting for both style and comfort, she completed the look with sleek black sneakers.

Her silvery hair fell freely down her back, and drop earrings along with a glittering navy bag completed the elegant look.

Legendary actress Bates is set to attend this year’s Screen Actors Guild Awards with two nominations under her belt. These recognition mark her ninth and tenth career nods, bestowed upon her for her outstanding performances in the CBS series Matlock and the film The Great Lillian Hall produced by Max.

She’s competing with Nicola Coughlan from Bridgerton, Allison Janney and Keri Russell (both from The Diplomat), as well as Anna Sawai for Shōgun, in the category recognizing Outstanding Female Actress in a Drama Series for her performance.

In the category of Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series, her fellow nominees are Cate Blanchett (for Disclaimer), Jodie Foster (True Detective: Night Country), Lily Gladstone (Under the Bridge), Jessica Gunning (Baby Reindeer), and Cristin Milioti (The Penguin). In simpler terms, there are five other actresses who are also nominated in the same category as her.

Previously, Bates won Screen Actors Guild awards in the years 1997 and 1999. These wins were for his roles in “The Late Shift” (1997) and “Primary Colors” (1999), respectively.

Her recent public appearance on the red carpet follows shortly after Bates shared insights into her weight loss experience, addressing rumors surrounding Ozempic.

For the last seven years, the individual has shed a total weight of 80 lbs by committing to a healthier lifestyle, and then further reduced by 20 lbs with the aid of Ozempic.

In her October interview with People, she stated that people have been discussing the possibility that her success is due to Ozempic.

Let me emphasize to everyone out there that this wasn’t a walk in the park for me, particularly amidst the pandemic. Frankly, it’s been tough to admit when I’ve reached my limits.

She was inspired to put her health first after being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes back in 2017.

The 31st Screen Actors Guild Awards are being held at the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall.

This year’s annual event, headlined by Kristen Bell of Nobody Wants This fame, will be streaming live on Netflix for the second consecutive time, beginning at 8 p.m. Eastern Time.

The Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) presents this award, making it unique as it’s the sole televised event that specifically honors actors.

For 13 hours, ceremonies are taking place where 13 honors, recognizing exceptional performances in both movies and television, will be presented. These awards have been chosen by the over 130,000 SAG-AFTRA members who cast their votes.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I must share that, according to their official site, the SAG Awards boast the most extensive voting membership among all award shows.

Some big-name celebrities like Pamela Anderson, Demi Moore, Zoe Saldana, and Timothée Chalamet were among those nominated at this year’s award show.
