Kate Winslet is stepping behind the camera for her directorial debut on Netflix movie Goodbye June.
Acting powerhouse Kate Winslet collaborates with her talented son Joe Anders for a second time following their joint appearance in the biopic “Lee” last year. This prestigious award winner is poised to take on the director’s role from a script written by Joe, with Winslet also serving as producer alongside Kate Solomon. Working Title will act as executive producers in this upcoming project.
In this ensemble, you’ll find the talents of Kate Winslet, joined by Toni Collette, Johnny Flynn, Andrea Riseborough, Timothy Spall, and Dame Helen Mirren (according to Screen Daily International).
Under the spotlight as a modern-day family drama, “Goodbye June” portrays a cluster of siblings grappling with their disparities following a devastating incident.
The movie is currently in pre-production and will begin filming in the UK shortly.
As Winslet embarks on her directorial debut, certain fans ponder if she might reprise her role in the prospective follow-up of a cherished film.
Speaking about the enduring impact of the holiday-themed romantic comedy “The Holiday”, its star, Ms. Winslet (Iris), expressed surprise that a follow-up film hasn’t been produced yet.
“Honestly, it’s never come up. I promise you,” she told Deadline.
It’s interesting to note that despite its suitability for a sequel given its nature, I’ve surprisingly not heard discussions about one.
In this holiday movie, Cameron Diaz plays the role of Amanda, a resident from Los Angeles who decides to participate in a home exchange program. Swapping her luxurious Hollywood villa for Iris’s charming cottage situated in Surrey, England, sets the stage for an interesting storyline. The cast is completed with Jude Law and Jack Black portraying the romantic interests of Amanda and Iris respectively.
Goodbye June doesn’t have a release date yet.
