Kate Winslet Revealed One Thing Fans Realized About Leonardo DiCaprio Thanks To One Battle After Another That She’s Known Forever

Most people know that Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio have a long history together. They first became famous working alongside each other in the movie Titanic almost 30 years ago, and later reunited for the film Revolutionary Road about a decade later. Because of this shared past, Winslet knows DiCaprio very well, and she’s happy that audiences are now discovering his comedic talent thanks to his recent performance in Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another.

Kate Winslet is currently promoting her two new films, Avatar: Fire And Ash and her first directed movie, Goodbye June. While speaking with Access Hollywood, she shared her admiration for a former co-star. She’s a big fan of One Battle After Another, which is gaining attention during awards season, and is especially pleased that audiences are finally seeing a side of Leonardo DiCaprio that she’s known for decades, as she explained.

What I really love about ‘One Battle After Another’ is the audience reaction – people are genuinely finding it hilarious, and that’s fantastic. Leo has always been incredibly funny, and I’m thrilled he’s getting to showcase that side of himself in what I think is one of his best performances yet.

While Leonardo DiCaprio isn’t a stranger to comedy – remember his role in the satirical film Don’t Look Up, and humorous scenes in movies like Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Catch Me If You Can – he’s primarily known for dramatic roles. But after watching his performance in One Battle After Another, and considering Kate Winslet’s observations, it makes you wonder if he’s overlooked his comedic abilities throughout his career.

Leonardo DiCaprio is known for playing strong, determined characters, but his role in Paul Thomas Anderson’s film, inspired by Thomas Pynchon’s Vineland, is quite different. He plays “Ghetto” Pat Calhoun, also known as Bob Ferguson—a former revolutionary in hiding. When an old enemy targets his daughter, Bob is forced into action, but years of living a hazy life haven’t left him fully prepared for the challenge of protecting her.

As a huge movie fan, I always noticed a real Lebowski vibe in DiCaprio’s performance, especially how effortlessly cool he was – and honestly, that’s a great thing! The Big Lebowski is just a comedic masterpiece. But DiCaprio didn’t just copy the style, he really showed off a knack for comedy in One Battle After Another, proving he’s genuinely funny, and surprisingly good at physical comedy too.

If you haven’t seen Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest film yet, it’s a must-see, and this week is the perfect time! It’s currently available to rent or buy online, but it’s also returning to IMAX theaters this weekend. As a bonus, these screenings will include a sneak peek at Christopher Nolan’s upcoming movie, The Odyssey.
