As a gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in the world of film production, I can confidently say that producing a movie is like leveling up to the final boss level in a game. It’s a whole new challenge, requiring skills you didn’t even know you needed.
In the biographical film ‘Lee’, which focuses on the life of war photographer Lee Miller, Kate Winslet embarked on her initial role as a producer for the very first time.
In an exclusive chat with Digital Spy prior to the film’s premiere, the actor shared that being a film producer is an entirely distinct role.
Actress Kate Winslet has previously served as an executive producer for HBO series “The Regime” and “Mare of Easttown.” However, “Lee” signifies her debut as a producer in any capacity. She emphasizes that this role is “an entirely new kind of job” compared to her acting work.

A executive producer typically initiates a project or acquires it from elsewhere, overseeing its progression. They may provide financing, offer production facilities, or assume the role in various other ways, acting as the project’s guiding force throughout its development.
A producer, essentially, oversees everything from conception to completion, handling aspects like planning, finances, personnel, locations, and ultimately, delivering the final product – a film.
In other words, that was an entirely new kind of work, and it was the first time I ever performed such a task on Lee.

For nearly a decade, Winslet has striven to portray Lee Miller’s tale on the silver screen, which she finds “incredibly rewarding.
I believe that taking on such extensive creative leadership, ensuring everyone is included throughout this journey, and fostering a fun, collaborative atmosphere are essential. This approach encourages daily motivation and cultivates a workspace where individuals can truly thrive and perform optimally at their tasks.
“That was the most important thing for me, and we did that every day on Lee.“

In addition to Kate Winslet, the cast includes Andy Samberg from Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Marion Cotillard known for Inception, Alexander Skarsgård famous in The Northman, Josh O’Connor who starred in Challengers, and Andrea Riseborough, recognized for her role in To Leslie.
In a conversation with Digital Spy, Alexander Skarsgård shared that Kate Winslet’s determination and zeal were incredibly contagious and thrilling to witness. Her fervor for this project was simply astounding.
Under the guidance of Ellen Kuras, renowned for her work on the film “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”, this production chronicles Miller’s transformation – from a fashion model into a war correspondent amidst the tumultuous era of World War II.
Lee is arriving in cinemas on September 13.
