Kate Ritchie is back on the radio waves following several months away for focusing on her psychological well-being, and she’s doing great!
The morning radio host at Nova 96.9 Sydney, aged 46, has been missing from the show since January. This followed an incident where she was seen shopping at a liquor store and later crying in a park.
On Fridays, I find myself thrilled to be part of the crew alongside Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald and Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli in the studio. Truly, it was a delightful experience to return this morning.
She playfully commented, “The situation was quite uncomfortable, reminiscent of idle chatter. Strangely, a glass door appeared where none existed before, and we now have fresh carpeting.
It turns out that I wasn’t able to return this week due to a cold I caught – quite unexpected! Yet, I can’t help but reflect that perhaps things unfold as they are destined to.
‘I love that I’m back here this morning and I’ve missed you.’
Fitzy and Wippa showered Kate with compliments, expressing their joy and that of the listeners at being reunited with her after a six-month absence.
Kate also joked that she’d forgotten how to do her job after so long away from the studio.
During the song, we briefly discussed some things, and he reminded me of a few rules that I might have missed while being away, she reflected.
Listeners showed great joy upon hearing Kate’s voice once more. One of them expressed their feelings on the radio show’s Instagram, saying: “Overjoyed to have you back, Kate! I’ve really missed you!
The person was taken aback upon turning on the radio this morning, as they had eagerly anticipated this very day! They expressed their delight as Kate’s voice and laughter returned to the airwaves once more.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but admire Nova for stepping up and keeping Kate’s seat warm during such turbulent times on our beloved show. It takes a true champion to stand tall in the face of adversity!
Fear had arisen among fans that Kate might not reappear on radio broadcasts after her high-profile breakdown in January.
Kate has been under continuous care at a rehab center ever since her emotional breakdown, an event captured by photographers showing her crying and looking distraught just moments after collecting her daughter Mae from school.
In February, Kate chose to share a statement on Instagram regarding some troubling images, clarifying that she would be temporarily stepping away from her radio program due to certain reasons.
Sometimes, I face difficulties with my mental health, matters that are very private to me. I didn’t anticipate it would be as challenging as it has turned out to be,” she shared.
I’ve chosen to step away from the show and my cherished team, as I prioritize my health right now. I want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone supporting me during this challenging period. Thank you Nova, for being there when I needed you most. Love to all.
Kate went on to address the images taken on January 29.
Many people, including herself, are facing the same issue. She’s aware of their struggles because she’s been there herself. The photos from last week clearly indicate that she wasn’t in a good state on that particular day,” is a paraphrased version of the original sentence.
She went on to thank her friends and fans for their support over the past week.
She expressed gratitude to her delightful family, every listener at Nova, and numerous others offering affection and encouragement. The appreciation she feels exceeds what words can express.
Initially, when Kate left, her co-hosts informed the viewers that she would be back the following day, but this schedule was eventually abandoned.
As a devoted fan, I’ve noticed that there hasn’t been any official word from Nova regarding a potential return date. Despite my attempts to seek clarity on this matter, including questions about her ongoing compensation during her time away, she has chosen to keep mum on these topics.
