Kate Lawler candidly confesses she’s having a ‘hard time mentally’ following her battle with secret health condition

In the most recent episode of Boj & Kate Have A Lot On Their Plate podcast, Kate Lawler openly admitted that she’s been struggling mentally.

The well-known TV host, aged 45, expressed gratitude towards her husband Martin Bojtos for his patience during the past few weeks, acknowledging that she may have been challenging to cohabit with.

Kate revealed her hormones have been ‘all over the place’ and has been feeling very ‘irritable’.

She expressed her gratitude for being patient with her because she’s been going through a tough mental phase recently.

I realize that I can be challenging to live with, as my hormones seem to be erratic and make me short-tempered.

Martin said: ‘I know, it’s okay. You find me irritating, well you find anyone irritating.’

‘For no reason!’, Kate chimed.

She stated: ‘No, I wouldn’t do that as this morning I gave Baxter a hug upon waking, followed by expressing my affection for Shirley when she descended the stairs.’

Then, as you entered the room, she playfully remarked, “Oh dear, there he is once more, always seeming to upend my world… Yet, you haven’t done a thing!

In June, Kate disclosed that she had been fighting a hidden health issue which caused her the greatest agony she had ever experienced.

In a post, the celebrity from Big Brother disclosed her struggle with severe abdominal pain. Eventually, she was urgently taken to a hospital in Greece. Upon examination, doctors assured her that everything was normal.

Kate revealed to The Sun On Sunday that her diagnosis of pelvic congestion syndrome, a relatively uncommon condition linked to undetected varicose veins near the ovaries and uterus, came after multiple examinations and misdiagnoses in the UK.

She revealed: ‘It was a sharp, stabbing pain that would last from 10 seconds to several hours.

Back in 2018 during our vacation, I found myself convinced that I was dealing with a potentially severe health issue, possibly a hernia, which had me so concerned that I sought medical attention at the hospital.

Initially, it seemed like my concerns were dismissed as signs of emotional instability. Instead of delving deeper into the matter, they reassured me with vague words, “You’re fine.” However, I was later led to believe that these experiences were attributed to hormonal fluctuations during my menstrual cycle.

Kate, who has a four-year-old daughter named Noa with her husband Martin, mentioned that she had consulted her general practitioner on two occasions. However, she was given possible explanations such as a hernia or endometriosis instead of a definitive diagnosis. Even a trip to a private gynecologist didn’t yield clear answers for her.

In August 2022, during an ordinary check-up for her varicose veins, she unexpectedly found out about having PCS, which she later shared.

Most frequently occurs in women between the ages of 20 and 45, particularly those who have had multiple pregnancies, and also in individuals with a history of varicose veins, a familial predisposition for them, or polycystic ovary syndrome.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d like to address a common concern many women face: pelvic pain. This pain might manifest as a dull or heavy sensation in the pelvis area. Interestingly, this discomfort can sometimes intensify at the end of the day, particularly before, during, or even after your menstrual cycle, or during intimate moments. It’s essential to be aware of these signs and consider seeking medical advice if they persist.

Although numerous British residents may be unfamiliar with PCS, it impacts approximately 1.5 million individuals within the United Kingdom. Notably, Kate mentioned that a trip to The Whiteley Clinic enabled her to undergo testing for this particular condition.

The celebrity also mentioned that varicose veins tend to be common in her family, often linked with a condition called PCS.

Or, more conversationally:
The reality star noted that her family has a history of dealing with varicose veins, and they frequently coexist with this condition known as PCS.

The usual approach for Post-Concussion Syndrome (PCS) treatment often involves a process called pelvic vein embolization. This method entails inserting small coils into the affected veins, guided by X-rays. As Kate shared, this procedure has significantly transformed her life.

The star described the process as “a bit unpleasant, but not painful,” emphasizing the need for medical professionals to be more mindful of Post-Conventional Syndrome (PCS).
