Kate Hudson is having an amazing comeback.
I was absolutely thrilled to hear that Kate Hudson, Goldie Hawn’s daughter, received an Oscar nomination this Thursday! She truly deserves it for her amazing performance as Claire Sardina in ‘Song Sung Blue.’ I’ve been a fan of her work for years, and this is just fantastic news!
I was so thrilled to see Jennifer Hudson nominated for an Oscar! It’s been a long time – almost 25 years, actually – since she last received a nomination, back when she was recognized for her amazing supporting role in Cameron Crowe’s Almost Famous. It’s wonderful to see her work being celebrated again.
Hudson was only 21-years-old at the time.
Over the past 25 years, since her initial Academy Award nomination, the now 46-year-old actress has starred in popular films including “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days,” “Fool’s Gold,” “Bride Wars,” and “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.”
I’ve been a huge fan of this actress for years, and I was so excited to see her pursue music! She released an album called ‘Glorious’ in 2024 and even performed at some festivals, which was amazing. I especially loved seeing her perform Neil Diamond’s ‘Song Sung Blue’ – she really has the vocal power to pull it off!
Many fans were disappointed that Hudson was nominated for an Oscar while Cynthia Erivo, who starred in Wicked: For Good, was overlooked. Ariana Grande also didn’t receive a nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
Fans expressed confusion and disappointment on X about Kate receiving a nomination while Cynthia, whom they consider equally talented, did not. One fan called the decision ‘ridiculous’ and ‘makes no sense’.
Hudson’s nod was the only Oscar nomination for Song Sung Blue.
The movie is inspired by a 2008 documentary and follows Mike and Claire Sardina, a couple from Milwaukee who perform a tribute show featuring the music of Neil Diamond and Patsy Cline under the name Lightning and Thunder.
Starring alongside Hudson is Hugh Jackman as Mike Sardina.
Kate Hudson received a Golden Globe nomination for her performance in the musical/comedy film Song Sung Blue, but Rose Byrne ultimately won the award for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You.
Goldie Hawn, Hudson’s mother, first appeared on film in 1969 with Cactus Flower, a role that earned her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. She later received a Best Actress nomination for her performance in Private Benjamin (1980).
This comes after Hawn said she believes Hudson inherited her acting talents.
The actress is Bill Hudson and Goldie Hawn’s daughter, and her mother, now 80, believes Kate inherited a talent for acting.
Goldie Hawn, who has been with Kurt Russell since 1983, recently told People magazine that their close connection is natural, not something they’ve had to work at. She explained that they live as one big family and share a lot of similar traits.
Honestly, when I look at Ryder and his sons, Oliver and Hudson, it just… gets me. It’s not about someone telling you how to be a dad, you know? It’s about seeing it, watching how he is with them. That’s how you really learn, not from speeches or fancy words. It’s all about leading by example, and he just does it. It’s beautiful to watch, honestly.
The comedian believes her daughter had a lucky childhood, being raised by two famous actors.
She explained that Katie’s parents are both involved in filmmaking, and that explains how we’ve been acting.
Hudson also admits that she’s benefited from being surrounded by film stars.
The actress shared that her childhood experiences on set were more impactful than actually working with certain actors. She emphasized that she learned the most from those she directly collaborated with and observed while on the job.
Earlier this month, the well-known celebrity stated she’s familiar with the ins and outs of the film industry.
I’ve been a huge fan of Kate Hudson for years, and I’ve always admired her resilience. She’s definitely had her share of challenging times in Hollywood, but she always seemed to believe that one amazing role, one fantastic movie, was all it would take to get her back on top – and she was right!
The actress, who became famous for her roles in romantic comedies, recently shared a story with The Hollywood Reporter. She said her former agent—who has since left the industry—once told her, ‘I get more frustrated when you don’t land a role than you do!’
I haven’t felt overlooked or undervalued, because I understand how the business world operates. Things can change quickly – you’re always just one step away from a fresh start or renewed success.
She’s committed to helping maintain the traditional moviegoing experience, even as more people watch films at home through streaming services.
The actress, starring with Hugh Jackman in the new biographical musical drama ‘Song Sung Blue,’ shared that she’s thrilled by the public interest in the film – not because of the actors’ success, but because it’s bringing audiences back to the theater.
When something special, like going to the movies, feels like it might disappear, it really makes you appreciate it. You realize you can’t just assume it will always be there, and it encourages you to value it more – at least, that’s been my experience. It’s a reminder of how important art can be. However, creating art is always a struggle when it has to compete with making money; the two just don’t mix well.
