Kate Hudson’s brother Oliver calls her dress ‘inappropriate’ for showing too much of her chest

Oliver Hudson playfully poked fun at his sister, Kate Hudson, on Instagram this past Sunday, acting like an older brother.

The 49-year-old actor shared a photo on Instagram of his 46-year-old brother’s red carpet outfit and criticized it, calling it unsuitable.

I was so excited to see her at the New York premiere of ‘Sing Sung Blue’ last week! She looked absolutely stunning in a gorgeous, low-cut green Valentino dress. Oliver made a playful comment about it, but honestly, she could wear anything and still shine.

I’m incredibly proud of my sister and her performance of ‘Song Sung Blue’ – it really touched me. (I’m getting emotional just writing this!) However, I’m upset that she wore a dress with such revealing exposure; as her older brother, I don’t think it was appropriate.

The celebrity playfully stated they would never post a photo of their body, jokingly citing respect for America and Iceland as the reason.

To make the situation more shocking and funny, he circled one of Kate’s breasts with a red digital marker, finished the message with the hashtag ‘#shacklethenipple,’ and played the parody song ‘Pepperoni Nipples’ in the background.

British actress and activist Jameela Jamil cleverly wrote in the comments, ‘LOLiver.’

Octavia Spencer, a well-known actress, also chimed in on the conversation, responding with a series of laughing-crying emojis.

Candace Cameron Bure also found the post funny, as evidenced by her use of laughing emojis. 

One fan called it “probably the strangest brother post ever,” and another joked that it would be a lively topic at Christmas dinner.

‘I’m so glad I don’t have a brother,’ someone else noted. 

The well-known siblings, children of Goldie Hawn, have a strained relationship with their father, Bill, who left when they were young.

In a July 2015 social media post, Oliver sarcastically called Father’s Day ‘Abandonment Day’ along with an old photo of himself, his dad, and his sister.

Following their parents’ divorce in 1982, the siblings were primarily raised by their mother and her partner, Kurt Russell, whom they affectionately call ‘Pa’.

In 2024, a source revealed to Us Weekly that Goldie Hawn is pleased Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson are rebuilding their relationship with their father, Bill Hudson, after a long period of not speaking.

According to a source, everyone involved is an adult and comfortable with the decisions being made.

In an April 2024 interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Kate shared that she remains distant from her biological father, though she wishes him well.

She said of the fissured connection, ‘It will be whatever it will be.’

Restlessly shifting in her seat, she explained that she didn’t hope for a close relationship with her father, saying she simply wanted him to be happy.
