Kate Hudson Admits Regret Over Turning Down ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ Role
In all my years as a die-hard fan, I’ve got to say, it’s confessed that among the countless roles Kate Hudson has tackled in her near 30-year Hollywood journey, there’s one part she deeply regrets passing up on.
On a Friday, she shared during Capital FM’s morning show, Capital Breakfast, that she chose not to take on the role of Andrea Sachs in the successful 2006 movie “The Devil Wears Prada.” This part ultimately went to Academy Award-winning actress Anne Hathaway.
‘That was a bad call,’ she confessed to the outlet.
Nevertheless, the actress from How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days explained her choice, mentioning that although she was keen on accepting the role, scheduling complications were responsible for it.
She expressed that it was a matter of scheduling, as there were circumstances that prevented her from completing the task, despite having the desire to do so. When she encountered the situation, she felt disappointed.
Filming for “The Devil Wears Prada” spanned from mid-September to late October 2005, and during this period, the main actor was also working on “You, Me and Dupree.” This dual commitment could have led to scheduling conflicts.
Despite her desire to rewind the clock, Goldie Hawn’s daughter also expressed the belief that ‘each event unfolds as it should.’
Reflecting on the incident, the artist who sings ‘Love Ain’t Easy’ commented, ‘It’s amusing, it’s like a series of events unfolding and individuals reacting at various points in time.’
It seems you’re not avoiding them intentionally; rather, it feels like you’re engaged in some other task, and these tasks are somehow getting pushed aside, understanding?
In the end, Anne Hathaway secured the highly desired main part, and the movie went on to be a tremendous blockbuster, earning an astounding $326 million worldwide at the box office.
In simpler terms, Meryl Streep, who often shares the lead role, gave an outstanding performance that earned her another Oscar nomination (her 14th), solidifying her iconic position in the film industry.
2006’s comedy-drama movie tells the tale of ‘ambitious journalist, Andy, a sharp and pragmatic fresh graduate, who embarks on a journey to New York City. She lands a job as an assistant to Miranda Priestly, a well-known high fashion magazine editor known for her skepticism (portrayed by Meryl Streep),’ according to the official IMDb summary.
Hudson’s disclosure surfaced about half a year after it was announced that the sequel to The Devil Wears Prada was being developed, approximately 19 years following the debut of the original movie.
According to Variety, it’s been announced that Aline Brosh McKenna, who previously adapted the 2006 movie based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel with the same title, has been hired by Disney for a screenplay rework.
Although it remains unconfirmed if the original actors will come back, there are suggestions that Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt might take up their characters once again based on the leaked storyline details.

It remains undecided whether Anne Hathaway, aged 42, will reprise her role as Andy Sachs, or if additional actors like Stanley Tucci, Simon Baker, Adrian Grenier, Gisele Bundchen, and Tracie Thoms will return for the media company’s project.
2006 saw the release of a movie that was inspired by the book of the identical title by Weisberger. The story, only partially inspired by her experiences, centers around her tenure as an assistant to the influential editor-in-chief of Vogue, Anna Wintour.
On Friday, Bill Hudson’s daughter shared insights on nurturing children from a family of “nepotism babies” who are growing up as the second generation.
The star has three children, Ryder, 21, son Bingham, 12, and daughter Rani Rose, five.
She disclosed that her oldest son, whom she had with former husband and The Black Crowes guitarist Chris Robinson, is likewise involved in performances.
On Vernon Kay’s BBC Radio 2 show last Thursday, Kate listened to a recording from 2008 where she discussed how her mother identified her love for acting before she herself was aware of it.
In response to the video, Kate remarked: “It seems to me that Goldie had already figured out that there wasn’t any other option available to her before I had even decided on my course of action.
‘I can clearly notice similar traits in my son Ryder that are reminiscent of ours. It’s like a familiar spark, and though he might not be aware of it himself, I believe both he and my parents share this characteristic to some degree.’
Speaking excitedly here, I can hardly contain myself! You know what? My boy’s got the knack for it too! Can you believe it? Guess who’s currently enrolled in a performing arts school? None other than my 21-year-old son! So, rest assured, he’ll navigate this talent just fine.
‘Oh go on, why are you “Ah?”‘ Vernon asked.
Proudly speaking about her son, Kate said, “He’s incredibly funny and intelligent. He carries himself with such confidence, making him a truly remarkable individual.

Additionally, it’s quite clear to me that our family excels at making children understand that their contributions matter significantly, and this translates for them as visibility or recognition in our eyes.
However, if one finds contentment in their actions and contributions, that is significant. I sincerely believe he possesses this quality, indicating he will fare well.
‘Your face has just literally lit up,’ Vernon replied.
Sure thing!
“Kate said, ‘Oh yes, that’s my child right there, my little one. I was young just like her/him too, so it’s really enjoyable having an adult kid who I can spend time with.’
‘Yeah, 21 now you can kind of,’ Vernon said before Kate added: ‘Oh yeah. It’s, it’s like the 90s!’
At the age of 23, Kate gave birth to Ryder while she was still married to Chris, a union that lasted between 2000 and 2007.
Previously, she expressed her astonishment to People magazine, stating that she found it hard to believe that I was just a few years older than him at the time I chose to become a parent, which she referred to as an unexpected and wild finding.
