I’ve always admired the magic of television that brings us stories from all walks of life. And as someone who’s spent countless hours in front of a camera, I can truly appreciate the hard work and dedication that goes into creating these masterpieces.

14-year-old Darcey Garraway affectionately consoled her younger brother Billy, 15, during a heartfelt moment, as their mom Kate Garraway was honored with the Authored Documentary award at the National Television Awards on Wednesday night.

The teen tenderly rubbed her brother’s shoulders twice as the broadcaster’s documentary Derek’s Story – which followed the final year of their late father’s life –  was announced the winner.

In a smart, polka-dotted dress, Darcey stood strong and supportive for her family. She could also be spotted guiding her mother by the hand towards the stage where they accepted the award together.

Afterward, Darcey positioned herself next to her brother, vigilantly observing their mom, while Kate delivered a moving speech where she dedicated her award to everyone serving as caregivers.

It certainly was a family affair as Kate had earlier walked the red carpet with her children at The O2 London ahead of the event.

On the occasion, the 57-year-old host of Good Morning Britain appeared stylish and elegant, donning a sleek black blazer adorned with a shimmering silver sequined collar, paired elegantly with pants of the same color.

The broadcaster enhanced her tall stature by wearing black heels adorned with silver details, and she accessorized with a matching silver clutch bag.

With her golden hair cascading over her shoulders, Kate accessorized her appearance by wearing a set of dangling earrings.

18-year-old Darcey donned a stylish dark grey polka dot gown featuring a side slit, while 15-year-old Billy opted for a smart black suit. (Informal: Darcey wore a cool dark grey polka dot dress with a leg split, and Billy chose a sharp black suit.)

Derek’s Story’, which chronicles the last year of her husband Derek Draper’s life before his passing.

In simple terms, Kate Garraway’s documentary “Derek’s Story” has become the third work of hers (Kate) associated with Good Morning Britain that has earned a nomination for Best Author-led Documentary.

Continuing with her theme, this new documentary is a continuation of her earlier works focusing on his fight against COVID-19 and her experiences within the healthcare system, both of which were awarded in 2021 and 2022.

Kate found herself competing with David Beckham’s documentary “Beckham,” Robbie Williams’ self-named series, Rhod Gilbert’s “A Pain In The Neck,” and Rose Ayling-Ellis’ “Signs For Change.

This year, the National Television Awards were held, as per tradition, at The O2 in London, on Peninsula Square. They will air live on ITV starting from 8 pm.

The NTAs have been at the O2 every year since 2010, with the exception of the rescheduled 2022 bash in Wembley.

Comedian Joel Dommett hosted the awards ceremony for the fourth time.

For an impressive 23rd time, Ant and Dec received the accolade for Best Presenters, guiding the major victors throughout the evening’s festivities.

On that particular night, Ant and Dec extended their victorious run even further, but it was actually Mr. Bates who emerged as the triple champion, taking home three prizes.

Toby Jones received the award for Best Acting in a Serial Drama, recognized for his highly praised portrayal in the television show.

During his address, the actor extended his well wishes to Sir Alan Bates, the genuine advocate for the Post Office, who recently got married to his long-term companion Susanne over the weekend, on Richard Branson’s personal island.

Despite a year plagued with scandals and controversy, Strictly Come Dancing scooped the prize for Talent Show.

Despite concerns about the future of the show due to allegations of abuse against dancers Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima, the BBC program managed to outshine Britain’s Got Talent, The Great British Bake Off, Masterchef, and The Voice to secure one of the evening’s major awards.

The National Television Awards (NTAs) are decided by the general public, and the victory of Strictly Come Dancing in this year’s event underscores the fact that viewers continue to support the program as it gears up for its 20th season, airing on Saturday evening.
