Kate Ferdinand shared an honest update on Instagram Sunday, saying she’s taking it easy and paying attention to what her body needs. She also revealed she’s currently dealing with acne.
Kate Wright, 34, moved to Dubai with her husband Rio Ferdinand, 46, and their children last year after leaving the UK. She recently shared that she’s been feeling tired and overwhelmed by trying to manage everything.
Kate recently shared several photos online, including a natural look showing her skin, as well as pictures from her yoga classes and therapy sessions. She explained she’s starting a new wellness routine focused on prioritizing her own well-being.
January was a month of introspection and setting boundaries. I prioritized rest and self-care, enjoying simple moments like baking with Shae, and focused on nourishing my body instead of strict workouts. I listened to what I needed and said ‘no’ to things that didn’t serve me.
I’ve been prioritizing rest and self-care lately, even though I’m still tired! I’m focusing less on appearances and more on what truly matters, like spending time with family and enjoying cuddles with my dog, Ronnie. I’m also dealing with some breakouts.
This January hasn’t gone as planned, but it’s been exactly what my body needed. I’ve been getting clear signals that it was time to slow down, reassess, and make some changes, and January has been full of those reminders.
Tia, her 14-year-old stepdaughter, quickly commented to commend her openness, writing: ‘Really honest post about a tough month, but you’re so strong and you’ll get through it. Remember to love yourself! x’
Fans responded with supportive messages, acknowledging how disruptive moving can be. Comments included expressions of love for the post, appreciation for the focus on self-care and prioritizing personal needs, and thanks for sharing a relatable experience that encourages others to do the same.
Kate and Rio are parents to son Cree, four, and two-year-old daughter Shae.
She’s also a stepmother to his three older children: 18-year-old Lorenz, 16-year-old Tate, and 14-year-old Tia. They are from his previous marriage to Rebecca Ellison, who sadly passed away in 2015.
Earlier this month, Kate shared that she was learning to pace herself after previously acknowledging she felt tired and overwhelmed by trying to do too much.
Oh my gosh, she actually thanked us! It just means the world, you know? And honestly, scrolling through the replies – all 1.4 million of my fellow fans – it’s like everyone gets it. We’re all feeling exactly the same way, it’s so amazing to see!
She posted a heartwarming picture of herself and one of her kids enjoying a sunny walk, and shared a message of gratitude. She explained that she’s been touched by the support she’s received, realizing many others are going through similar experiences.
It’s funny how life sometimes makes us pause and catch our breath. I’m used to living at a really fast pace, so learning to slow down is definitely a change for me.
The family spent the Christmas holidays visiting relatives in London before returning to their home in Dubai.
Back at home, Kate shared that she’d been quite emotional following a busy and overwhelming Christmas in London.
She recently shared that she’s been feeling emotionally drained since December, describing it as a lingering emotional hangover. She admitted she’s been hesitant to talk about it, but feels it’s preventing her from being her true self.
I’m just not feeling like myself lately. I’m lacking my usual motivation and have been feeling really emotional, and I don’t have the energetic start to the year that I usually experience.
I’ve been giving this some thought, and as parents, we really want to make December special for our kids. It’s just a really busy time – between getting ready for Christmas, working, and managing everything else, it can feel overwhelming.
Holidays often mean reconnecting with family, which can bring both joy and challenges. While it’s wonderful to see loved ones we’ve missed, it can also mean facing difficult relationships or falling back into old childhood patterns, sometimes leaving us feeling emotionally drained afterwards.
We’re often expected to completely reinvent ourselves on January first, to become a ‘new person,’ but that’s not realistic. It takes time to change, and I don’t buy into that pressure. I’m definitely not a morning person who jumps out of bed to exercise – my body is always telling me it needs more rest!
Kate admitted she’s been feeling stressed about exercising, but she’s chosen to prioritize listening to her body and rest when needed. She reassured her followers that it’s perfectly alright to not always feel up to it.
She continued: ‘I’ve been very emotional and I think it’s ok to not be ok.
I’ve been feeling really stressed lately, and today I planned to share my workout. But honestly, when I tried to exercise, I just didn’t have the energy. My body feels completely exhausted, and I couldn’t push myself through it.
I want to be real with you all. A lot of people struggle with realizing that even people you trust aren’t always reliable, and it’s not something we often talk about openly online. Just remember that anyone can disappoint you, especially when you least expect it.
January is when I focus on self-care. I prioritize rest, avoid overexertion, and do things I enjoy. I’m comfortable saying no to commitments and keeping my schedule clear.
This isn’t about needing a fresh start. I’m sending love and good wishes to anyone who might be struggling – I hope you’re doing alright.
