Kate Ferdinand gives an insight into  her family’s ‘half-term chaos’ after they relocated to Dubai – as she shows off their £6.5m lavish home

Kate Ferdinand shared a glimpse of her family’s busy half-term break on Instagram after they moved to Dubai.

Kate Wright, aged 34 and previously known from the TV show TOWIE, welcomed her son Cree in December 2020. Last year, she and her husband, former footballer Rio Ferdinand, 46, had another child, a son named Shae.

Kate is also a stepmother to Rio’s three children – Lorenz, 18, Tate, 16, and Tia, 13 – from his previous marriage to Rebecca Ellison. Rebecca sadly passed away in 2015 after fighting cancer.

Kate shared on Friday that having her children home on break has turned things delightfully chaotic, but she wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Kate shared photos of her family’s £6.5 million home and wrote a caption about their half-term break: ‘Complete chaos, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world!’ She also included a heart emoji.

A heartwarming video shows Kate getting her hair done while excitedly greeting her two-year-old daughter, Shae, and giving her a hug.

In a playful moment, Kate was enjoying a swim in her beautiful pool when her son unexpectedly ran up and jumped in, splashing her with water.

Over the school break, the celebrity enjoyed the views of Dubai, showed off her fashionable clothes, and had fun with her family – her husband and children.

Kate balanced work and family life, squeezing in workouts at home with Rio while also working from her home office with their children nearby.

In August, Kate and Rio decided to trade their life in south-east London for a new adventure in the sunny United Arab Emirates.

According to the Daily Mail, the couple has purchased a home in the upscale, private community of Al Barari. The luxurious property was listed for 32.5 million dirhams (approximately £6.55 million) in April.

Kate recently told KENT LIFE magazine about adjusting to her new life, describing it as incredibly noisy and overwhelming. She explained that it’s so loud, it’s difficult to concentrate or even hear your own thoughts, and there’s a lot happening at once.

Honestly, it’s just… everything you’d hope for and more. It’s a whirlwind of love, noise, and pure joy, and the best part is watching my kids connect with each other. Their bond is truly something special.

Family dinner is a really important part of our life. Whenever we’re all home, we make a point of sitting down at the table together – it’s just something we do. It’s not always easy, of course! My kids are always eager to run and play, but I’m pretty consistent about making them ask if they can be excused. It’s important to me that they understand that time together is special.

The reality star said she appreciated the dinner as a way for the family to reconnect, since everyone’s lives had become so busy.

It was chaotic – food and drinks were flying everywhere! But it’s the only time of year we all manage to get together.

The couple recently got together with Rio’s older children for a family get-together after flying out to meet them.

The family gathered with their eldest son, Lorenz, who came to visit after recently signing his first professional football contract with Brighton in the UK. Their younger son, Tate, who plays for Brighton’s Under 18s team, was also there, making it a complete family reunion.

Rio and Kate announced on Instagram in August that they’re moving to the UAE. They described feeling a mix of fear, excitement, and nerves about the change, but are looking forward to a ‘fresh start’ in the city where they first met eight years ago.

Kate shared her excitement about a new beginning, saying they’re finally making a home in the city where they first met. She emphasized that they had to try, because they’d always wonder ‘what if’ if they didn’t. It’s a dream come true after a lot of discussion!

Already feeling a little sad about missing some of our favorite things, but also thrilled, anxious, and hopeful for what’s coming next—mostly, we’re just ready for a new chapter! ❤️

Okay, so I’ve been following Rio Ferdinand *closely*, and he finally spilled the beans on why he upped and left for Dubai so soon after leaving TNT! It’s been driving me crazy trying to figure it out, but he explained his reasons, and honestly, it all makes so much sense now. I’m just obsessed with knowing everything he’s up to!

The ex-Manchester United and England player said in May he was leaving his job with the broadcaster at the end of the season to concentrate on his other business ventures.

After a decade working for TNT Sports (formerly BT Sport), Ferdinand moved to the United Arab Emirates with his family. This decision came even though his 19-year-old son, Lorenz, had just signed his first professional soccer contract with Brighton in July.

Ferdinand explained to The National that there wasn’t just one factor in his decision. He hadn’t attended the Global Soccer Awards for around seven or eight years, but used to be a regular attendee, and recently went back for the event.

I got to know a different side of the place while spending time with some of Kate’s friends who lived there. I also run a business called Football Escapes in the area.

Dubai offers a lifestyle where people feel appreciated and energized, creating a positive environment for families. The combination of safety, good weather, and the opportunity for a fresh start contribute to a happy and fulfilling life.

I was ready for a change. For the past decade, my life revolved around working on TV broadcasts of football games after I retired from playing. When I decided to step back, I realized how much of my life – about thirty years – had been dictated by the game schedule. I’m not abandoning football completely, but it won’t be the central focus of my life anymore, and honestly, it feels good to have that freedom.

The Manchester United icon also revealed that a major reason for the transfer was wanting the best education for his children.

He mentioned he’d considered moving. They revisited in February to check out the schools, and that brought the idea back to mind.

Switching schools felt like a really positive step, especially for my kids’ education. It’s ideal timing too, as my children are 14 and about to start their two years of GCSEs this August.

With children aged four and two, this feels like a great fit for our family. The lessons are based on the English curriculum, but taught in a unique and engaging way. I also think teachers in the UK often don’t get the appreciation or compensation they deserve.
