As a follower and supporter of Kate Beckinsale, it is both heart-wrenching and inspiring to read about her recent experiences with body-shamers and the health issues she has faced. Her resilience in the face of adversity is truly commendable.
Kate Beckinsale recently responded to body shamers by sharing more details about the health problems that led her to be hospitalized this year.
In March, the actress from “Underworld” shared that she had been admitted to the hospital. Initially, she kept the cause a secret, leading to a lengthy stay of six weeks. Later on, she provided some insight into the matter through two responses on her Instagram posts.
On Tuesday, Beckinsale shared an Instagram reel featuring herself wearing a vibrant pink bikini bottom and coordinating crop top, along with black platform boots. She playfully commented that some people might think her choices are not suitable for her age.
In one of the video’s comments, someone wrote “Try squats, Kate Beckinsale!”, implying that she looked underweight to them.
In response, the British actress explained: “No, I unfortunately witnessed my stepfather pass away in a startling manner. My mother is battling stage 4 cancer, and I have shed significant weight due to stress and mourning. I spent six weeks at the hospital because the intense grief had caused a painful ulcer in my esophagus, resulting in me vomiting blood. Consequently, consuming food has become quite a challenge.”
Beckinsale mentioned that she had finished shooting a film which dealt with the sensitive topic of a father’s demise, leaving her feeling quite affected.
“So I’m not really concerned about what you think … ,” she wrote.
The exchange comes after a similar one unfolded two months prior.
On May 24th, Beckinsale posted an Instagram reel featuring glimpses into the production of her forthcoming film “Stolen Girl.” Some viewers commented on her noticeable weight loss in the clip.
I understand that the original comment was intended to be a concern for someone named Kate, but it came off as insensitive and judgemental. Based on my own experiences, I believe that making observations about someone’s physical appearance can be tricky and open to misinterpretation.
I’ve had a tough time lately, dealing with some unbearable losses. First, I lost my stepfather, Roy Battersby. And just as devastating, I said goodbye to my beloved cat companion of almost 19 years. The pain of their passing has been immense. Adding to my misery, I’ve been struggling with an esophageal tear and a severe flare-up of my mast cell disease. The stress, shock, and grief have made these health issues even more challenging to manage. It’s been a rollercoaster ride, and I’m just trying to get through each day.
She expressed that her appearance and how she should look, uninfluenced by her personal circumstances or family, is irrelevant to your opinion. Your preference for women doesn’t matter to her. What bothers her is the notion that she or any other woman needs to be informed of your taste. This topic is closed; improve your behavior accordingly.
At the King’s Trust Global Gala in New York City in May, Beckinsale made her red carpet appearance once again. In an interview with People, she shared that the past year had been particularly challenging for her.
I find it comforting to visit friends and gain some new perspectives. It seems we’ve all gone through a challenging year.
