Kasey Chambers, 48, reveals humiliating moment she was told she needed Botox – and why she refuses to get cosmetic work done
As a lifestyle expert with a deep appreciation for authenticity and individuality, I can wholeheartedly admire Kasey Chambers‘ unwavering commitment to staying true to herself. Her story of resisting cosmetic procedures amidst societal pressure is a testament to her strength and self-awareness. It’s not every day we come across individuals who can stand their ground against such pressures, especially in the glamour-oriented world of music.
Kasey Chambers likes to keep things natural.
In my latest publication, “Just Don’t Be A D**khead,” I openly disclose an experience where I was persuaded to consider cosmetic surgeries in the past.
48 years old, she was at the Golden Guitar Awards in Tamworth previously. At that time, someone commented, “You might benefit from Botox, dear.” (Informal)
She explains to Adelaide Now this week, “In the book, I interpreted that part as a jest, but it felt like someone was jabbing a needle into my eye – it was so uncomfortable, I can still remember it making my toes curl.
As a lifestyle expert reflecting on the past, I’d say: “Looking back, I’m grateful for that pivotal moment when I felt uncomfortable about my wrinkles. It seems ironic, doesn’t it? At the time, I had fewer lines than I do now, but that instance resonated with every woman out there who ever questioned their appearance. That woman, unknowingly, sparked a realization in me – and I believe her inadvertent act of honesty served as a reminder for us all to embrace our natural selves.
‘I was thinking “No, I’m not going to buy into that”‘ a defiant Kasey said.
Growing up, I was nurtured by a woman whose inner radiance surpassed physical appearance; I penned a tune dedicated to her (entitled ‘Mother’) with lyrics such as “You illuminate a room with the wrinkles on your face.” To me, those lines are beautiful.
Kasey gained widespread recognition following the success of her debut album “The Captain” in 1999, and she’s maintained a prominent presence in the world of country music ever since.
Speaking to the Sydney Morning Herald recently, Kasey said she’s never taken her career too seriously.
She stated that she didn’t put much emphasis on her career as something that pushed her forward, it was never a major focus for her.
‘I don’t worry about things too much,’ she added.
‘Maybe that comes with age anyway, but I don’t think I would be able to cope in this industry if I did take myself too serious.’

Kasey has three kids – sons Talon, Arlo, and daughter Poet, who she had with her former spouse, musician Shane Nicholson. They divorced back in 2013.
The hitmaker has also has branched out to clothing design.
The country artist collaborates on the creation of “Poetry by Kasey and Renee,” a project that bears the name of their daughter, Poet Poppin.
Kasey’s fresh book titled “Just Don’t Be A Jerk” will be available in stores starting October 1, while her 13th studio album called “Backbone” is scheduled for release on October 4.
