Karl Stefanovic takes a savage swipe at Channel Seven after network announces closures in several Australian cities
Karl Stefanovic has wasted no time in taking aim at Channel Seven.
On Monday, it was announced that the broadcasting of their programming will be halted in numerous cities across South Australia and New South Wales.
The popular host of Today swiftly found humor in Seven’s underwhelming performance on Tuesday.
Stefanovic and co-host Sarah Abo had an engaging conversation with Astrid Jorgensen, the creator of Pub Choir, who left America’s Got Talent viewers amazed this past week by leading a flawlessly harmonious choir.
Karl, eager to recreate the enchanting melodies that left Simon Cowell amazed, motivated Astrid to spontaneously start singing.

As your trusted lifestyle guide, I’m excited to kick off our city pub crawl today! You know, yesterday during our show, Sarah belted out Madonna’s “Like a Prayer” and it garnered an impressive half a million viewers – quite the performance! Let’s make the most of this vibrant city and its fantastic watering holes together.
After showing a playful side, the host subtly criticized Seven by suggesting to Astrid that an upbeat melody could lift the spirits of those who, starting from Tuesday, would no longer greet the day with Sunrise.
He inquired, “Could you manage to set things in motion for us?” He wanted this done so that our viewing audience, including those in Griffith, Riverina who have been unable to view Seven, could also join and participate.
‘Good morning to you guys,’ he added. ‘Let’s give them a song this morning.’
In response to a breakdown in negotiations between WIN Television and Seven West Media, Karl’s comment was made when there was no agreement reached for Channel Seven, 7mate, and 7TWO to air in the regional areas of Mt Gambier and Loxton (South Australia) as well as Griffith (NSW).
In these areas, the broadcasting network has announced that Channel Seven’s shows are no longer accessible on the free TV channels.
Network Seven possesses unique privileges for broadcasting major sports competitions such as Test cricket, the Big Bash League, and the Australian Football League (AFL), along with numerous other programs.
According to Andrew Lancaster, the CEO of WIN Network, we are dedicated to catering to our local communities effectively by maintaining a robust local presence and offering tailored programming.

Despite our utmost efforts, we couldn’t come to a mutually beneficial commercial deal with the WIN Network for providing Seven access through aerial broadcast in Riverland, Griffith, and Mount Gambier. (Jeff Howard, Seven West Media Managing Director and CEO)
Seven is still transmitting its signal, but WIN has opted to stop airing Seven’s content in certain communities. Instead, WIN will continue to broadcast their own programming.
Although we’re sorry about WIN’s choice, these communities remain significant to us. They can enjoy Seven’s news, sports, and entertainment content live, at no cost, and on-demand through the 7plus platform.
While waiting for a solution, Seven is trying to enlist the aid of both the Federal Government and the Australian Communications and Media Authority in an attempt to address this issue promptly.
For people to enjoy Seven’s streaming content, it is essential that they own a smart television with an active internet connection.
WIN also dropped Sky News coverage in the area last year.
Last week, it emerged exclusively by Daily Mail Australia that Seven Network had secured the services of Tanya Weingarth, who was previously the executive producer for Nine’s evening news broadcast.
In an internal memo, it was shared that a current senior producer from A Current Affair is set to take on the role of executive producer for our 6 pm Sydney newscast.
Or:
In an internal communication, it was disclosed that the senior producer of A Current Affair will assume the position of executive producer for our 6 pm news broadcast in Sydney.
Both options convey the same meaning and are easy to read.

Seven’s acting news director Geoff Dunn welcomed the appointment in the internal email.
‘Tanya started her career with Seven Queensland, so she really is coming home,’ the message read.
‘We will confirm her start date in due course,’ he said.
‘We’re thrilled she is making the switch to Sydney’s most dedicated news team.’
The representative from Channel Nine conveyed to Daily Mail Australia that they hope Weingarth finds success in her future professional endeavors.
‘Tanya continues to fulfil her current role as EP, including tonight at 6pm,’ he said.
It’s come to light that the higher-ups at Seven News had been discreetly plotting to dismiss several of their top-rated and highest-earning personnel.
In my fervent enthusiasm, let me share a fascinating tidbit: It was rumored, as reported by The Australian’s Media Diary column, that the esteemed Anthony De Ceglie, once a towering figure in news management, harbored a daring scheme. This scheme, if true, aimed to replace every Channel Seven personality raking in over $300,000 annually with fresh, promising TV talents, paving the way for a new era.
It had been decided in secret that Liam Bartlett (Spotlight’s main correspondent), Chris Reason (Seven News’ chief reporter), and Michael Usher (anchor for Seven News Sydney) would be let go, as part of an aggressive cost reduction strategy.
As a devoted admirer, I’d rephrase it this way: Among the well-compensated personalities on Sunrise and The Morning Show, Natalie Barr, Matt Shirvington, Kylie Gillies, and Larry Emdur were the ones who weren’t in jeopardy of losing their positions.
Yet, De Ceglie’s idea faced ‘prompt opposition from the more experienced executives at Seven’.
