Karl Stefanovic scores new gig on ABC’s Hard Quiz

Channel Nine’s Karl Stefanovic has announced he is jumping ship to the ABC – temporarily.

Lisa Wilkinson, 51, who co-hosts the Today show, will be a guest on the Christmas special of the popular quiz show, Hard Quiz, which airs on the national broadcaster.

Karl will join Larry Emdur, Leigh Sales, and Angela Bishop as a contestant in an upcoming trivia competition.

A special episode, hosted by Tom Gleeson – known for his work on Hard Quiz – will premiere on ABC TV and ABC iview on December 17th.

It comes after Karl shared a sweet birthday tribute to his Today show co-host Sarah Abo.

The Nine’s veteran member shared a birthday message on Instagram for Sarah, who recently celebrated her 40th birthday.

He posted a sweet photo from their recent trip to the Mount Isa Rodeo, showing Sarah hugging Jasmine, Karl’s wife, and their 5-year-old daughter, Harper.

Captioning the adorable image, Karl said he was ‘humbled’ to know Sarah.

‘She’ll hate this. But who cares,’ he wrote.

I feel incredibly lucky to have amazing women in my life, women who truly enrich it – like Sarah Abo. It’s a real privilege to know her.

Continuing his sweet tribute, Karl praised Sarah for her resilience and infectious laugh.

‘Your strength through adversity. Your grace and your laugh are glorious,’ he added.

Keep shining, sister! Happy 40th birthday, Sares! You’re amazing – a total star, like Madonna belting out tunes in Chinatown.

‘Très poetic, Old Mate!’ he wrote. ‘Love and respect you so much Sarah…Happy Birthday.’

Karl’s wife Jasmine also chimed in with: ‘Happiest Birthdays Sarsoura. That’s so beautiful Karlos.’

Today sports presenter Danika Mason also offered: ‘A true icon.’

Karl’s tribute was not lost on Sarah, who repaid Karl’s kind words.

Karlos!! You gorgeous man!! Thank you. You know me too well,’ she wrote.

Sources say Sarah has renewed her contract with the well-known breakfast program, putting an end to speculation that Samantha Armytage might take her place.

Meanwhile, Samantha would be filling in for Sarah on Today over the holidays.

Samantha, age 49 and the host of The Golden Bachelor, will be co-hosting a breakfast radio show with Nova’s Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli.
